Man, I really hope it doesn't affect him mentally. Getting shot at like that can be a really traumatizing experience as you're so close to death (mere inches?).

I'm sure he'll recover physically, it's just the mental half I worry about, especially since he's so young.

Also, for anyone outside of Houston, it is NOT the most dangerous city. I've been to every "bad neighborhood" in Houston at night time and day time 5th ward, 3rd ward, Acres Homes, Homestead, whatever. Most of the people are nice.

Seriously, Ron would be laughing his *ss off reading this thread "bad neighborhood?...have they heard of QB?"

Sometimes bad things happen to good people, this was in no way Landry's fault.

I've heard rumors of gang initiations where your car gets bumped and when you get out to check out the damage they shoot you. That sounds eerily similar to what happened to Landry. I'm glad he'll be ok.

Why does this team always have something so unexpected and unfortunate happen to them almost every year? Glad Carl is OK and I hope he makes a full recovery with no lasting physical or mental damage.

    ***Late Breaking News***

Chuck Hayes was seen in a vehcile in the area of the shooting driving supiciously and is now considered a suspect. All I have to say is, Chuck this is not the way to get more playing time.

I hear you. I'm not suggesting he needs our help paying his medical bills.
I'm suggesting that we as fans look for a way to respond in a positive way to keep morale up.

i doubt it is anything related to them. it turned out the whole car bumping related to that gang was a hoax. probably some wannabe gangsters late at night.

landry is a really cool guy, but he very poor judgment if he is out cruising in a questionable area at 3 am in the morning. also anyone who cares about their health especially a pro athlete should know they need a good night sleep every night to be well rested for the games, not staying up at 3 in the morning. its not healthy for anyone to stay up that late, especially if you're a pro athlete.

WTF? When did this happen? This team is a freackish drama act. The rockets should play their games at noon replace the daytime soap operas.

if they landed in hobby and he lives on leeland, the only fast food place i can think of near his place is the McDonald's on Main by the greyhound and that place is SKETCHY at all hours of the day.

i'm glad it was just flesh tho and he's still with us. he's one of my favorites, along with wafer and scola.

Well, he didn't have a game the next day so sleep wouldn't have been an issue. But I will agree that you shouldn't be rolling around H-Town during 3 in the morning (sounds like a lyric from a Screw tape), especially in a area like that.

One of his neighbors who didn't want to be shown on camera said he had no idea it was Landry outside his door who needed help. He showed us the trail of blood Landry left behind.

"There was blood everywhere, all over the trails, all the way up to the front door, as you can see," he said. "He went to each of the neighbors' houses. The reason I know is because I heard the dogs barking at 4:30. Also, a neighbor came out this morning as I was rinsing off the blood, said that someone rang his doorbell at 4:30 this morning, saying, 'Let me in. I've been shot'.
