Yes the 0 assist number is a bit alarming, but I think some of you guys are being way too hard on the guy

Can we step back for a minute and remember:

    1. He was the 26th pick overall just a year and a half ago
    2. He has only started 20 games in his ENTIRE NBA career
    3. He is now the starting point guard, arguably the most important position, on a supposed CHAMPIONSHIP caliber team, at least "on paper" at the beginning of the season

As a ton of posters pointed out when Rafer (whom I think we are now seeing just how good an NBA point guard he actually is, but that is another argument) was traded, we basically took a step back and threw up the white flag on champion ambitions. Personally I think that happened when T-Mac finally went down for the season, but whatever. Anything that happens in the post season is gravy, but REALITY CHECK: we cannot beat the Lakers or Spurs over a 7 game series. We don't have any hall of fame type players and to have the heart of a champion, you have to get out of the first round first. Give Brooks a chance to learn, he will be a solid point guard in this league.

I really cant understand why Rox guys hv no will to pass ball to Yao in the final 5 mins.

Some guys said Yao is the worst Clutch player, then who is the best in Rox??
    Ron? AB? or anyoneelse??

No. Yao is the best clutch player if u can pass the ball to him in correct point.
Looked what Spurs do?? Tim Dun and Parker got all the balls in the final 5 mins.

What did Rox guys doing? Ron shot svrl and then AB shot others and all lost in the mini basket.
Why not pass it to Yao? He offensed on T-Dun very perfectly yesterday..

Alston was a pure pg, and that lead us to 2 first round exits, and 1 non playoff year...all while getting scorched by deron williams...no vaseline

not to mention his first year, no appearance action

Yao isn't Tim Duncan. You can get Duncan the ball 15-18 feet out, and he can create something for you. Duncan was comfortable facing up on Yao in the mid-post or high-post and shooting his jumper, or driving past Yao for the running hook, or hitting Tony Parker with the backdoor pass. Yao needs to get the ball in more specific spots on the court to be effective, and it is easier for opposing teams to deny that.

When we talk about how "clutch" a player is, the ability to get the ball has to be part of the equation. I'm not saying it's all Yao's fault, but part of the reason Yao has a difficult time getting the ball is just the type of player he is, in addition to his balance/mobility issues and his poor hands.

This is what's stupid about this whole thread, brooks had 0 assist, but how many times fif he give it to yao and yao was backing it in before he shot? You don't get a assist from that because it more than 2 dribbles. The spurs wanted yao to beat them. That means no leaving scola or battier. That means the only players that will effect the game are artest, brooks, and wafer. That's why scola and shane wasn't left open. Scola feeds off yao doubles.

Hopefully Brooks will start to play good? What games have you been watching? Its amazing to me how people can sit back and critique someone after one bad game and not give him credit for the games that we have won because of him.

Ok First of all for those of you that compare AB with the Tony Parkers and Deron Williams, let me break it down for you. In AB's defense the Houston Rockets offense is not designed like our offense. Any Rocket fan knows that we run our offense through Yao Ming, therefore, what Daryl and Rick want to do is surround Yao with excellent 3 point shooters.

Teams like Utah run pick and roll offense constantly where 9 times out of ten the guard will have an assist at the end of the play. Well we dont run our offense like that. AB's job is get Yao ming the ball and unfortunately you dont get an assist if Yao hits the shot. With the way we run our offense we must have a guard that can shoot the 3 and also penetrate well if the shot is not there and this is what we have in AB.

If everyone remembers back when we won titles with Hakeem, the offense was run the exact same way and Sam Cassell was not a passing PG, he was a scorer. Why? Becasue thats the type of guard you need when your offense is run through your center, someone that can shoot the 3 and penetrate.

Does Lowry have better vision than AB on the court, I think he does. Which is why it makes him a better fit for the bench when Yao is not on the court. Thats when its our time to run and make plays which he can do. If you start him with Yao, teams would exploit that and rotate off of him becasue he is not a great 3 point shooter.

So in all fairness to AB, I dont think its fair to compare him to those other PG's becasue the offense is run totally different and as long as we have Yao to run our offense through, we will never have a PG that has high assist like Deron Williams (someone who runs pick and rolls all night)numbers every night.
