This is more bipartisan than you're getting credit, but your subsequent arguments change their flavor.

Did the election hurt the economy, or make it worse? Impossible to quantify. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't, just like it will be very difficult to quantify the results of this stimulus. How many jobs will it save? How do you measure that, among other indicators?

I don't think the election killed our economy, there were many many other more instigating factors. Did it make it worse? Maybe some, but again, hard to measure, and I don't think it was what one side was saying publicly that caused any additional stress. By the time the actual election came along, everyone agreed there was a huge problem, and it wasn't just because of how the supposedly liberal media covered the two stances. I think it's a bit much to quantify how badly you think it affected it, but to say it might have can be debated one way or the other.

One thing we agree on, arguing about who's (or what's) fault it is, is not fixing anything. Perhaps it's time to stop naming the elephant, and start discussing how to get the damn thing out of the room.

Do you have some figures to back this up - because there is an argument that the Iraq war cost will be over 1 trillion anyway.
