Somehow Sura simple gets every loose ball. He couldn't shoot that well, he didn't pass to Yao that much, but he did run the team well, passed around instead of looked for his own shots. Also unlike AB, his court vision was good enough, unlike AB.
b/c sura knew his role -> get tmac and yao shots and also provide the passion and swagger. in 31 mpg in his only season with us, dude put up 10, 6, 5 on 43% shooting, 36% 3s. if any PG put up those #s for us, i'd be ecstatic.
Get your head out of your ass. AB is NOT the next Tony Parker. The kid play out of control and can't create shots for others. Basketball IQ isn't good either.
Agreed, as I have been saying. He's a million dollar talent under a 2 cent brain. He'll be lucky if he's anywhere close to the player Steve Francis ever was. I'd rather call him the no brain Cuttino Mobley than the Next Tony Parker.
What about steve nash, terrell brandon, sam cassell? All 4 yr players all got better after the age of 26.
Oh so now Aaron Brooks is Steve Nash? All 3 of those guys had a brain during college, Aaron Brooks still doesn't. The point of going to college is to develop your game. Aaron Brooks has develop a 3 point shot and that's about it. He's just going to be a shooter for the rest of his career once his athletic ability goes away.
This is actually a fair comparison. Although, Brooks is the better shooter. Both aren't true PGs and are more SGs than anything else. They both attack the rim relentlessly, with no fear. Some of Steve's pros, like his size and strength at the PG spot, are a weakness for the smaller Brooks. Aaron is also the faster guy with the ball. While Steve will dribble to break a player down, Brooks doesn't waste time and just burns by the defender. On another note, how many small guards came into the league as more of a 2-Guard and then developed their game and became an even better player at the point? I can't really think of any the moment so any help would be appreciated.
yup AB is in his prime. his skills arent goign to improve. the only thign he can improve is his knowledge of the game.
It's clear Rick is throwing Brooks out there to give him chances to learn from these situations. Hopefully it works.....
I think it's probably because Rick just really likes Chris Rock. So he chooses Aaron to be his PG over Lowry.
There's no debate Brooks should be starting over Lowry right now; it's just unreasonable to ask a playoff team to start a PG that wasn't even on the team until the trade deadline, especially a non-established guy like Lowry. However, in the offseason, I dunno what Adelman's plans are but I expect Morey to give him a big nudge in the back to consider playing Lowry over Brooks.
I agree and I think there are a few primary reasons that will drive this. 1. Lowry is the best post passer of the two and overall the best at running sets. 2. Lowry's size and tenacity makes him a better defender. 3. Brook's scoring punch off the bench would be a welcome change and a good boost for the second unit. Recently during an interview on 1560, Morey indicated that the Lowry trade was about how much they liked him over Rafer and that it was not necessarily about them wanting Brooks to start.
What does Pop say? Other than the last complimentary line, he just stated his decision process to play Parker - presumably because the writer asked him about Parker and AB, and wanted to do a comparison. At least the subtext is there in soliciting those quotes. Notice POP didn't make a direct comparison. I won't read to much into it. It's almost customary. What do you expect to say when asked by Houston media?
If he didn't think too much of Aaron as a player, I think he would have said much less than he did. But I guess it does depend on what he was asked.
I think Brooks has done a good job as a starter so far. 20 games 13.6, 4.6, 3.3 on 39.5% shooting, 37.8% 3s. Sura and Brooks are two completely different players, but outside of Brook's FG% Im ecstatic with what he's done as a starter in his second year in the league. I see him in the future averaging around 16-17pg, 5-7 dimes, 4 boards with a much much better FG percentage. Brooks is still trying to find his way.
