Yao's face was like "WTF...ok, i don't want you slam you in the face brooks, i just hope you learn your lesson". Ok, i will stop whining. I started this thread because a lot of you guys are arguing how brooks have being a score point and how he helped/harmed the team. I took the approach to compare his numbers against Yao's to let you guys see, some of you are just illuded by those Opitical Plays. if i don't get ti wrong, Brooks began to be our starting PG in FEB 21, vs Mavs.lets start from that. i did a .xls document myself but don't know how to insert it... trying to figure it out and hopefully can post it in this thread he started 14 games, we are 10W4L. Brooks, from my analysis, won us 3 games(my standard is he shoots better than average 40.3% and Yao is not playing good) which is 2.21mavs, 3.7suns and 3.10nuggets. and he has lost 1 game for us, today, shooting 7-18, 38.9% while Yao is 9-17 52.9%. On the other way around, Yao has won us 4games which is 2.23 Bobcats/2.27 Cavs/3.4 Raptors/3.14 Bobcats. there is one game in which they both did bad and still win (2.25 Blazers), and two games which they both did good and win(3.2 Timberwolves 3.9 Grizlies) on those 4 loss, Brooks shoots bad in 3 of them and yao is 2/4, there is one game they both shoot above average but still lost(3.12 Lakers), let's see, o yeah, Yao only had 9 shot tempts... basically, Brooks is 70-175, 40%FG on 12.5shots per game, and Yao is 105-188, 55.8%FG on 13.4shots per game. My opinion is, we defnitely need brooks to shoot good to win games because when he shoots below his average which is 40.3%(2.23 Bobcats/2.25 Blazers/2.27 Cavs/3.1 Bulls/3.4 Raptors/3.5 Jazz/3.14 Bobcats/Today), we were 5W3L, but he needs to find the big guy and pass the damn ball, Is Yao the 1st scorer in a NBA team with the least shot attempts after Brooks started? i don't know. but I hope we can win games with good performance from both of them rather than only one of them. Brooks needs to chill out and improve both his FG%(shot selection) and ASSIST. PS,i did the calculations myself and there might be mistakes, i appreciate your corrections if i'm wrong.
i'm not really sure how if theres a real correlation between your results and games, but i do know you forgot to take Ron into consideration. After Rafer left, not only did brooks step into a new role, but ron sort of did as well. He was officially the #2 guy since tmac's surgery was official and he was more assertive (or a ballhog even) since then. He dominates the ball a lot also, so its not just Brooks who's not getting Yao the ball enough. I'd say half of Brooks' shots come during fast breaks, right after a defensive rebound before they set up half court offense, or from a kickout from Yao. So i dont think mos *** his shots are shots that Yao could have taken instead. Ron however, takes a good number of shots when Yao is set up and should be getting the ball. So i think Ron's taking more shots away from Yao than Brooks.
Dont fill the line with Yao and AB at same time. Yao is a career 22 PER star. AB is a career 13 PER backup, same PER last year and this year, nothing improved. Rox cant count on this pg, period.
trying to insert the picture here...who can help..i have the xls and jpg ready but don't know how to post it...
yeah, absolutely Ron is a very important factor to the team but this thread is aimed at Brooks performance as he is the PG and supposed to dishing the ball to Yao... however, you are welcome to add Ron's stats to this...
i have to put them together as they both play on this team and starts... and Brooks's game has vital influence on Yao's.
Brooks has only been starting for like 15 games and he started some games last season too when Rafer was out, so season numbers really arent going to tell you much about his impact as a starter. You'd have to use starting numbers vs bench numbers only or wait until he's been starting for several weeks at least.
