    seriously...

this team is nowhere near the level of the top teams in the league. we can't beat the lakers at home without odom, and can't beat the spurs at home with no ginobili, and lets not forget the utah game. people around here smoking if they think we can beat any of these teams in a 7 game series.

only homers thought this team would be championship contenders. I am rooting for a 2nd round birth and if that is all then I would be happy. If we lose yet again in the 1st round I will be massively disappointment because I believe we are good enough to go at least that far.

    No.

    There happy.

Who the hell gives a crap what we think of our team? If we have hopes, we have hopes. Whether they are realistic or not, who cares. Lets us dream dang it!

we have beat the celtics, and cavs.
shoulda woulda coulda beat the lakers and spurs.

in a seven game series if this team gets their crap together it could be possible.
Take into consideration we spent the first half of the season babysitting T-Mac,
we are still finding our identity and may peak when it matters most.

Well we are the "darkhorse" by default. The favorites are the Spurs, Lakers, and Jazz according to some experts. Since we're not considered a favorite but rank high in the standings, we fall to the darkhorse category.

But yeah, who gives a crap. It's just a meaningless label.

If only we had Ron McGrady, the DPOY scorer.

Knee-jerk. We took the game down to the last 4 seconds... or did everyone already forget.

If Spurs are a contender, then I say we are up there.

We played a great game, and it was the 5th game in 7 nights.

So if Boston and Cleveland played, whoever lost is not a contender?

No one is even saying we are a contender. Most fans are saying we can get past the 1st round.

No the Rockets can't beat the Lakers in a series. We also can't beat the Spurs if everyone on their team's healthy (Manu).

We have a chance against the Jazz or the Blazers if we have come court.

We can beat the Hornets, the Nuggets, and the Mavs in a series with home court.

The Rockets are not contenders. I gave up on that much earlier in the season. But these last two losses weren't that bad. Both of them are a perspective check for the optimists in the organization and some fans. But the Rockets stood toe to toe with the Lakers and Spurs and that's something to be proud of. These were good learning experiences for the players and didn't eliminate the team from anything. Today's game was the 5th in 7 days (also the 8th in 12). This squad has some guts and fortitude.

I'm hoping for a 1st round series win. If that happens, this season turned out well despite the circumstances.

i dont know if we were ever darkhorses to win it all, i think its mostly about causing waves int he playoff process. We're not likely to face the spurs or the lakers in the first round, so it's not like the two games will decide our early playoff fortunes. I dont even think the Spurs have our number o anything, i think we could beat them in a 7 game series with some minor tweaks.

Either way, we can still beat someone like the hornets, or the blazers in the first..

crazy how everyone is expecting us to be contenders w/ a bunch of role players...no offense to the rockets who I've been watching for years and years but this roster right now will do some damage in the playoffs, but its still a player or two away from being a contender. Aside from Yao, everyone one else is just a role player - Artest included.

we beat boston when they were going through that huge slump, and we always own cleveland so thats not a big deal... but those teams are irrelevant because we could only see them in the finals, and there is no way we will make it that far....

if we get our crap together ??? lol... we are not as good as the top teams, PERIOD. our success depends largely on the play of a 2nd year player, ron artest and his inconsistent shooting, and a post player who struggles mightily when fronted.

Hey buddy, we played well enough to win this game. It was a fluke that Finley made that half court 3 point shot. The Spurs are NOT better than us in a 7 game series. What if one of our half court heaves went in? We would have won the game. This game was too close to say that we cannot win a playoff series against the Spurs.

If Adelman remains the coach and Brooks remains the starting point guard, forget it!

"Ifs" have been the Rockets motto for years now. Until they learn to close games, I'll take the Spurs who never lost in the first round in almost a decade over the current "what if" Rockets.
