I was pretty mad especially when Yao just hit the last shot before that play. Yao was being clutch in that game, but oddly Ron wanted to be the savior himself. I'm starting to think he has more things in common with T-Mac than he does with Yao.
if you saw the play, you know he had 3-4 CHANCES to pass yao the ball, WHO WAS SINGLE COVERED. i mean, if he was on the opposite side of the court and didn't see yao, i understand. but goodness, yao was right there probably screaming for teh ball and raising his arms up. yet ron kept dribbling. that was straight up selfish and stupid at the same time.
This worries me. I dont understand why Rick Adelman cant tell Ron and Ab to give the ball to Yao especially with a minute left. Ron, if he gets double team he is more than likely gonna pass the ball out to you so you can jack it up! It pisses me off, I love Ron but damn Artest our star is Yao not you
Yao was wide open there and to make it worse that happens a lot during games. He puts team in jeopardy with plays like that to start with. No one gets pass on stuffs like that. Yao won the game for us.
exactly, YAO is too nice to be the MAN, if I were YAO, I would slap RON on the back of his head afterwords and ask WTF was he thinking, or not, lol.
Umm . . . please reread my post. I know there are quite a few typos (sorry) but I think it is pretty clear that I'm saying that Ron *should've* passed to Yao.
I wondered that myself when ron went iso-pro on that dude with yao sitting there ready for the entry pass. Oh well, don't do it again.
What do you think that Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett or Shaq would have done in that position? They undoubtedly would have thrown him the ball. We need to do one of two things: somebody get in Yao's face and demand that he demand the ball, or get another star player that is much better playing within the system. I honestly think that we can win with what we have, we just really need to have a star play *along side* Yao. Yao is so soft spoken, I dont think he will ever be outspoken like Shaq and demand the ball. Shaq is the closest thing in the NBA that we have to a modern day Mohammed Ali. Instead, we need to really think about who we put next to him. Since we have such a deep team that plays very cohesively, it's important to keep the team together during the offseason. Maybe let Ron walk because we all know he wants to go to LA. Then by using "moneyball" we pick up a really good solid player that can play within our system and throw it into Yao. It's ridiculous to have your best player go 5-6 and get 23 points. I honestly think that if we were to have a player that is more of a G/SF, that is somewhat underrated player but plays great team ball and stick him into our system, I think we would do great things. If we could get the type of player along the lines of a Rip Hamilton, Michael Redd, Kevin Martin or Danny Granger we would have championship aspirations.
Seriously? You'r dogging the guy who pretty much won the game for us last night? Its a lose-lose situation on this board. Off the reservation? Geez, we won the game fellas
I only wish McLady had read the forums as well. If artest reads this thread, good. It was a bone-headed play and that's all there is to it. He had a solid finish to the end of the game but you've gotta give Yao the ball in that situation.
In all fairness, though, Gerald Wallace is no slouch as a defender. Look at those pics -- he's glued to Artest the entire time, right up in his grill. Maybe Ron wasn't sure he could get a clean pass off.
Artest better be smarter in the playoffs because I see us losing games in the playoffs because of this selfish behaviour. In that case, he should go in the offseason. It's not like it was one possession neither, it was 2 or 3 possesions where he tried to force something. I'm really starting to question Ron's BBall IQ the last couple of games, sometimes he just seems to litterly LOOSE his mind, he doesn't know where it is and cannot find it.
I believe come the playoffs the team will be playing a lot better and these close games are a good way to prepare for them.
it bothers me a lot. Yao was 9-11 last night; why does Ron get to take 12 shots? especially if he's hitting them at less than 50%?! Even Brooks....he was what? 2-12?
i personally love Ron. but, offensively, i really dont think he should have that much influence. I would rather have Brooks or scola have the ball, let alone yao. he needs to realize that he is NOT a type of player who should dribble dribble to whole time. well i guess this is what happens when we lost T-mac.
The stupid plays from Artest (also Yao) cost our Lakers's game, we almost lost the last game due to the Artest plays. I am sure that Morey looked at those plays, and was thinking what we should do for this guy as for a long term contract, he is such a stupid person, and no one can controls him, this is especial true from our current coach.
