I always wondered why they didn't do this before. they need to keep that up and GIVE YAO MORE TOUCHES.
Nice pass by Von. The other play I never see is the high lob pass with Yao going to the basket when he's fronted, Barry might have been able to make that pass directly to Yao.

It is our coach's job to figure them out and apply those play on the court.
I just come up with some ideas that how about mod sticks a thread at the top of gem in which everyone try to find the solution of defeating fronting and doubling with video. everyone just put the relevant videos into that thread instead of text description.
I remember seeing a play where they would have Scola pop the near the free throw line and he would drop a pass to Yao while in motion and that seems to work against the fronting. I think we need to have more plays with Yao in motion. He has OK hands to make the catch and skilled enough to finish the play. It's just seems like he has to work hard in the post for all his points. I can say I like when Yao and Lowry play together, he makes it a little easier for Yao when he attacks the defense and drops it off to Yao for a easy lay up/dunk.
Why is the fronting-thingy such a problem for Yao? I remember in game 1 in '94 finals when Ewing and the Knicks tried to front Hakeem and he killed them and the next game they stopped to front him.
While I agreee that the team and the coaching staff has not done their part in ensuring that we beat the fronting effectively, it is also on Yao to seal his man better in game situations, even when he's tired.
Probably because we have no slasher outside of Wafer and Lowry and they come off the bench. To solve that problem, you are going to need Lowry to start, but that's not happening due to Adelman's loyalty.
The bottom line is if they "front Yao" we can't be concerned with trying to shoe-horn the ball into him. Recognize the situation, PASS the ball and attack the basket. Anytime we can "break down the defense" and attack the basket, that creates all sorts of havoc on the defense. That's why having ATTACKING players like Wafer, Brooks, Lowry, are key.
Ive always the reason fronting is so effective on Yao is because we dont have enough slashers on the top and weakside.
Everybody have to be on the same page for this play to work. Wafer has to recognize that Yao is fronted and need to drive to the hoop. Artest need to block out Wafer's man. And Barry need to fake and pass to Wafer. Everything had to be in sync for this play to work.
