I was just watching R2K's highlights from the Suns and the Nuggets game and I love how Carl Landry plays the game. There is so much joy he brings to the game and you can tell he is having a great time doing what he loves.

I would like to see him pop out and shoot that jumper more on nights when the opponent's interior size neutralizes his offensive rebounding. That jumper is money.

Agreed. Earlier in the year when he would shoot (with that semi hitch at the top of his jump) I would assume miss but he kept hitting so it seems to just be a part of his form. Not something I would teach others, but hey, if it works go with it.

Agreed there's a lot Landry could do to improve his game but what I hope he never changes is the energy he brings out there. We are blessed to have three players at the PF position who bring hustle and effort out there.

I hope Dawson is able to work with him more on his face up. When you give it to Carl Landry on his spot he usually will make it (probably only needs to take two dribbles max). The problem I see in his game is that whenever he has to face up and create a shot, his dribbling skills are not good enough to get him by.

He needs to learn how to face up and either fake bait the defender into thinking he is going to drive to the basket but instead step back and take jumper (its money) or know how bait him into think he is going to take a jumper but instead take it to the basket.

Landry still has some untapped offensive skills that he can definitely develop.

As such, his jersey will become the first Rockets jersey that I own when it comes in a couple days. :D

On a semi-related note, I don't know how long it's been going on, but the Rockets shop seems to have some pretty good deals going on right now. I snagged an authentic road jersey for $94. Says it's regularly $170.

Well I got an authentic Rockets' home uniform for $10 in Hong Kong. That's what it said on the label. I was amazed to find out that the NBA uses iron on letters. ;)

I love Carl Landry's game too, all hustle and heart!
Now with his new midrange-jumper he can some serious damage if he gets the ball at the right time, he is damn hot from the midrange-position and he is still doing the things he did last year which made us big fans of his game.
If he continues to work hard I wouldn't be surprised at all if he would become a David West type of player.

    Carl is the MAN!

I worry though. The Rockets completely under utilize his talents, and you have to wonder how Carl feels about that. I feel like if he played for another team, he would get 20 more minutes a night, and it really makes me wonder how long we can hold onto him at the rate we play him. I know we signed him to a contract to prevent him from going to Charlotte, but you really have to wonder if that was in his best interest.

his face up game consists of either shooting the jumpshot or pump faking then driving to the hoop. if he could get a back to basket game like luis scola he'd be a superstar.

I heard he's working on a 3 point shot. If he ever got that down he could play a few minutes at the SF position.

I was at the game and was screaming for a a Yao-Scola-Landry-Artest-Lowry lineup when things were getting testy. Battier just wasn't being effective and Landry would have helped more I thought.

I guess they didn't hear me over the crowd :D

Landry needs to add some fakes and hesitations to his post game to make him a bit more effective in traffic.
