I'm just curious. We always see the Republicans bashing the pro-active measures of the Democrats, but nary is there any mention of what the GOP would do as an alternative. Of course, I could just be missing something, but it seems to me that Republicans are more concerned with blaming problems on Obama rather then getting something done about the problems facing this nation.

Of course, when the foot was on the other side, the same could have been said about the Democrats. It is however extremely disappointing to see Republicans continue and even worsen this tradition when the nation faces it's biggest set of trials since a lonnnnnng time ago.

in order to propose a solution one must first have a plan or idea of where they want to go. as of now, other than just complaining as the loudest of the party are doing, there is no course of action.

though if there isn't some massive improvement over the next 18 months, look for the GOP to try 1994 all over again.

I think the general stance of Republicans is the hands-off approach, that the markets will fix themselves.

The most moronic idea Republican leadership proposed was a spending freeze. This shows the sheer lunacy that reigns supreme in their ranks. As you imply, their basic stance is to oppose whatever Obama and the Dems come up with. The bankruptcy of their party was made plain when NONE of their members in the House voted for the proposed stimulus package, then after it was altered and pared back by the Senate, NOT A ONE of them voted for the final bill.

It's called pure obstructionism. GOP now stands for Grand Obstructionist Party.

Libs, police your own. This thread is a disgrace.

Republicans have been promoting fiscal discipline, and pushing for actual stimulus, and rejecting PORKULUS and EARMARKULUS. Meanwhile, the libpig intelligentsia have been politicizing the crisis by demonizing the financial industry, large businesses, energy, and the state of Nevada. Why in the name of Sweet Jesus are we raising taxes during a recession? That needs to be fought. And noble Republicans are fighting it. While the libs are attempting to take advantage of the system by pushing through socialist policies, such as redistribution of income and the greatly expanded role of government, the Republicans are the only sober, responsible people in Washington.

    Pretty much.

I've stopped taking TJ seriously for a pretty long time, but it puts a smile on my face when he proves my claims by offering up attack, attack, attack, with nary an original idea or tangible, focused plan. A microcosm of how the opposition party is operating; other then a disjointed speech about pork and taxes, there is nothing there.

Some articles or sources would be nice. Instead we receive the same old canned speech about socialism. How drole. I'm open to the fact that Republicans are contributing, it just can't be expressed any worse then the above example.

3 months of repentance does not make up for 8 years of loose cannon spending.

This is what happens when a radio commentator replaces the elected officals as the leader of a party.

Is this what we're left with? Not saying the Democrats have been particularly impressive, but the Republicans have absolutely become a black hole. America NEEDS a strong opposition party of some kind, one that is skeptical yet reasonable, a proper check and balance to the Democrats. Right now, that is sorely lacking.

    hence the picture ;)

they're both calling the kettle black.

the spending was out of control. it is even more so now, but we are at least now spending some of it here at home. which still fails to answer the original question of, does the GOP have any solution at all? i still say no.

The question posed is just silly. Republicans offer viable solutions on a daily basis.

The problem is that the questioner is so biased, that he can't see any Republican question as viable.

Most problems are not "fixable"; at best they are "improvable" and that is usually a temporary station. Most political criticism is just making hay politically.

I think we should put the Sprint Delivery Guys or the Roadies in charge of the Federal Government.

One of the few benefits of being the minority power in both Congress and the executive is that you don't necessarily propose ideas but hope that the majority fails.
