Hello everyone, it's been a while since my last post here but I felt like throwing my two cents in here while most everyone is down after the last nights loss,But we have a great team and I LOVE my Rockets!! Feel free to disagree but I really do believe in this team and think last nights loss wasn't as bad as most here make it out to be. The Lakers played their best ball(playoff intensity) and Rocks? despite bad offensive games by Ron and Shane, and turnovers/mental lapses by Yao, had a great chance to win the game. I really think with a slight change in game plan we can take the Lakers!!! No one can defend Kobe, we all know that and that's why I would not put my #2 offensive option on him, that would be waste of a lot of energy and concentration for Ron(on Offense), and also a motivating factor for Kobe. The way to beat Kobe and the Lakers is by taking away passing lanes, creating mismatches, and make Kobe play a one man show, basically let Kobe take the rest of them Lakers out of the game. How? I would put someone like Von for longer duration on him, put Ron on Odom, Scola on Pau, and Shane on one of their energy/3 point guys. Do not play the game plan they expect you to play, Phil is too smart for that. I do think we will make it out of the first round and with a little luck and better concentration/better shooting even more then that. Yao is really trying but we should stop force feeding him,and ask him to do more then he can. our game plan in the fourth should be posting up Ron and Scola and let them pass it out to our spot up shooters. There is more into this, but I trust our guys( with a little more salt and pepper for the great mix we have on our team). I hope you can see what I am trying to say.
Last nights loss, it's not the end of the world. Every year I think just win 50 games and make the playoffs and let the chips fall. To win 50 games you need to win 30 out of 41 home games and 20 out of 41 road games. That means we are going to lose half our road games (Chicago anyone) and the good teams are going get 25% of our home games. We are set to win our 50. Everything is going to fine. Now are we going to win the championship? I realy doubt it.
Well-Said, We just made a lot of mental errors that can be fixed. We didn't hit our shots, Not sure if our players are to blame or the Lakers defense deserves to get credit.
Despite Lakers defense and our mistakes( second chance points, missing open shots, turning the ball over few times in the final minutes, and couple bad calls on moving picks) we were only couple of shots away from a win againt the best in the west, and that's with lake show playing their best game.
Thanks!! this team is bringing the best out of me lately, One more time The Rockets are fun to watch win or lose!! Thats all I can ask for!!!!
why do a certain portion of the Clutchfans think its the end of the world if we lose to the Lakers? The Spurs lost, do their fans abandon the Alamo? Why do Rocket fans start selling off their stock like its Enron? its cold outside, but the weather is FAIR
you do know since forever, every laker-rocket game is close and down to the wire. rarely do you get blowouts. and obviously the teams aren't far apart b/c talent-wise we're aren't far apart. but the thing is, we just cna't get over that "hump." yo tinman, i heard "MVP" chants at the alamo. for kobe tonight
I really think this team can take lakers, Just a couple changes and a surprise in the bag will do the magic. we have the tools and I think we have a very good product on the floor, but you can;t win EVERY game. This losses should make us enjoy our wins even more, lets not forget we are still #3 seed in the tough west. How many teams can say that( atleast for now)?
for the past 2-3 years, we've shown the ability to beat ANY team ANY where, esp. last yr. remember, we were the only team to win in utah more htan once last yr. but every year we say, "we have the tools... just a little more..." i agree with you we have the talent and the depth. morey has done a great job. but i feel we miss that "umph" that all great teams do. those teams RELISH the close games and know they're going to win the close games. i can't say that for our team. but again, i think as we keep building, we'll get there. morey has a plan for us and i think he'll deliver.
Past two three years we had some other problems, like T-mac turning the game into a jump shooting contest(I like T-mac but he did not always play a team ball) and we did not play the kind of team ball like we are now, we just need a different game plan for the fourth and I said my thoughts on that Idea in the original post. I do feel what you are saying though but I can see things have changed for better now, I just feel it.
