Y-E-S Duncan and the Spurs have walked the walk, struggling in a regular season game doesn't mean much to him and the Spurs. They're confident that they can turn it up in the playoffs. Yao and the Rockets, not so much.

I do agree on that part, but you don't think the Rockets can turn it around in the playoffs? In my opinion, a fault to blame it on is Rick Adelman for his inability to manage his minutes correctly. That and how laid back he is. All opinion really, but Gasol is destroying Duncan in this game.
right now i'm more worried about how focused the spurs are going to come out against us if they get blown out by LA...
Some of what makes those stats for this season so fluky is Parker and Ginobili missing huge periods of time in the season. He hasn't had to deal with that since he's been in San Antonio.
What are you judging this on? Our past playoff experience? IMO, if we need a micro managing coach, then we got the wrong type of players to begin with. Rick gives his players the freedom to figure out things on their own, but if the players can't figure it out then that means the leadership among the players suck.
Agreed. And even given that he's down about 2 rebounds and 3 points per game average since his prime. I can't wait til he retires. I wish they had a stat for the "What, no foul?" as he grabs his forearm per game. I'm sure that average has gone up.
Well we do have pretty poor leadership on this team. Yao's minutes are suppose to be limited this season, and I really don't even think Adelman has done that. We need a restricted coach similar to JVG if you ask me. Adelman's gameplan has not worked out.
I don't think anyone is in a position to judge that until we get out of the first round, . . . or, God forbid, we don't.
How can you say that? Adelman has yet to even be tested in the playoffs. If you want to count last seasons team with a shoulder-injured and knee-injured T-Mac/Battier bone spurs/rafer's issues with injuries in the playoffs plus luther head's mediocre play.. you can, but I'm not going to count Adelman's coaching there.. This season at least there is more health and depth.. Also, Adelman has won 55 in his first season, and on pace to win 50 again in his 2nd season.. so I think that's pretty much even or even BETTER than what JVG has done in his 3 years with Mac.
You do have a point we never really had a completely healthy team. This offense that I am seeing from Rick is more suited for A Prime Tracy McGrady than a current Yao Ming. Adelman is very smart offensively, however I think he has resorted to using back to Jeff Van Gundy's old offensive playbook. I don't know how his job is running currently, I just think he could be doing a better job utilizing Yao.
That is true.. but I think that because we have been winning lately.. and have been more comfortable with it, he wants to continue with it. I do think there should be more movement and cutting to the basket in this offense.
I just love this "the sky is falling" crap. Look, we shot 17% from the three point line last night. 17%!!!! We are 18 games over .500 and hanging on to the 3rd seed for now. We all have gripes with how the coach runs the game: If we win handily: "We played Yao too long, and we have a back-to-back" or if we lose, "Why is he keeping so-and-so in too long". And for the record 42-24 doesn't equate to a broken system for me.
Gawd, the limiting of Yao's minutes crap is so r****ded. What the hell are we saving him for? Another first round flame out? You really think limiting his minutes will keep him fresh so he can dominate in the playoffs? WRONG. If we need to limit our superstar's minutes and always be worried of how many minutes he's got, then you got a flawed superstar to begin with. Your franchise player is suppose to play heavy minutes and carry your team, especially in this part of the season and the playoffs. And I said poor leadership among THE PLAYERS; Rick gives the players freedom on the court to figure things out on their own.
Good point about it's not going to help in the playoffs. However, WE need to limit his minutes for the 4th quarter if we want him to be the finisher. Right now, If I had to pick a closer on this team it would be Yao. Only reason why Yao has been absolutely choking this season is due to fatigued.
LOL...Do you realize how many people you're throwing off with your sarcastic posts? It's hilarious if you "get it" but I guarantee there's 100 newbs floating around here typing their "OMMGGZZZ!!!" responses to all your hyperbole while trying to figure out why they are unable to start threads at the same time.
I tend to agree, but remember, it's only been a few weeks since we have had point guards who can slash into the lane. Give it time. Rafer was never a threat in the lane, really, and lacked the quickness of both AB and Lowry. They will have to be consistenly aggressive in the playoffs, and hopefully they recognize that. Wafer is about the only other one with that ability.
