Trash talking is cool only if they can back it up. Remeber Ruben Patterson saying he was the Kobe Stopper?
when i play basketball, i'm a nice guy on the court. i've actually apologized to someone for blocking their shot. this day in age, it's not worth it to trash talk to people. they take it the wrong way, and i end up having to go to my vehicle, and wave my gun and machete. i rather not do that kind of thing. i guess it's all cute, and it has it romanticism, I've seen Above the Rim like 48 times. I know it word for word. only the last paragraph is not true.

It's always been part of the game, but it only works if you can back it up. A display like last night, where the trash talker is getting his @$$ handed to him looks bad. Especially if the talker doesn't have enough sense to be embarrassed and just STFU. Last night's display was embarrassing.
Like its been said, trash talking is apart of every sport. In the NBA especially guys like Jordan, Bird, Reggie Miller, Garnett, Sam Cassell, Gary Payton are notorious for talking. Thats just the tip of the iceberg.
Trash talking is fine if you can back it up and not let the other person mess with your head.. Ron Ron took it a little to far and it even made Ron do some stupid turnovers late in the game because Kobe got to him! We just got Kobe'd last night
It's part of the game. Actually, it's pretty enjoyable unless it leads to something violent. I think the problem with some of the younger fans is that they have been neutered by modern society. I'm sure it won't be long before some NBA fans want teams to quit playing actual games and just have each team's best player play HORSE against one another. That way there won't be any emotion or anything masculine like *gasp* trash talk or cursing.
I don't give a damn about trash talking. Why would you? It's gonna happen, every sport, every game. What I can't stand is complaining to the refs, especially when it's the likes of Kobe, Duncan, etc. "Dude, I can't call a foul every time somebody touches you when you have the ball. Don't worry, I got your back next possession."
Watch this from about 1:12-1:52... THAT'S trash-talking! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AZ6bjcT3O_M&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AZ6bjcT3O_M&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
You get inside the inferior player's head. Kobe vs. Artest was a good example. Kobe was entirely in Artest's head, causing him to make ill-advised drives and dribble too much.
michael jordan is busy running the bobcats now, but i heard gary payton still remains retired. ron should pay the glove a visit to sharpen his trash talking skills. next time, do it with a smile and don't let it ever affect the way you play a game.
Trash talking? Try trash posting! We have the best trash-posters in town! (Well, I am only a semi-trash poster.)
