Well that's tight, I've heard of those apps on jailbroken iPhones as well. :D

I'm too lazy to jailbreak my iPhone though.

so it would download to the phone and you would watch via the phone screen?

can the android play all formats? how fast could you really even download a 700mb/1.36GB if you are on a 3G network somewhere?

also i found this quote on the link to be a load of crock:

honestly i find this to be one of those cool little features but how practical is it?...now it would be cool if it started the torrent on a home PC or something instead of on the phone

Ok, so you have a DVD in your hand and you scan its bar code, then you can download it onto your computer. But, why don't you just stick that DVD into your DVD player and just watch it already instead of waiting for those downloads? I guess that would be easier to do?

Or, you know, just scan it while you're in the store.

True dat, but that defeats the purpose? I mean you have to connect your phone to your PC.. and then all that crap.. might as well just search for the torrent online.

I think that's exactly what it does. You're out at a store somewhere, you see a DVD that looks interesting and you scan it. When you get home, the movie has already been downloaded to your CPU.

I don't really get the significance. Instead of going to a store, I could just get online on my computer and go directly to piratebay.org and find a torrent.

This is absolutely right. I've been at work several times that someone mentions a movie, I say "Man, I don't have that, what's the title?" then they say it. I connect RemoteDesktop to home PC, load up Azureus, then search PirateBay... ummm... then I purchase the DVD... yes, that's what I do. ;)

So does this download on your phone or is it like a remote application? It'd be pretty dumb to download on the phone. Torrent speeds are crap, not to mention all the battery it would waste.

I think Shazam is a better app.

The barcode bargain hunter one is cool too.
