kobe getting pissed off cost us the game.

    point your fingers...artest...yao...battier...brooks...

whatever. the best player in the nba got pissed off and beat that ass down. that's why he is the mvp. it wasn't gasol or fisher or anybody else stepping up...kobe went off. stop evaluating the game all up and down.

ol boy got fired up and put a hurtin on the rockets. no one was gonna stop him and all the other lakers just stood around and watched.

it's easy when you gots a guy like that on your team. kobe is morphing into a modern day jordan

Artest did get owned and he did get sucked into a personal battle that he lost, but he is a great team guy and a true Rocket. The team should make every effort to re-sign him.

i dont want artest after this year.

it will blow up in the rockets face if they give in a multi year contract at the age of 30.

mark my words. it will be a painful few years.

Kobe also said that Ron has got him several times before. We all do exactly what Ron does. One of our buddies start talkin' sheest to us and we get pissed and we go after them. Waah! That's life, man.

Oh wait, were you saying because he's a professional athlete, he can't do that and he needs to hold himself to a higher standard? Hmm...cuz Wade, Lebron, Kobe, Michael, Larry, Charles have ALL done that...and they've all lost individual battles. I'm not saying Ron is those guys but Ron is a DAMN good basketball player and he had a night on the court where he was pissed. He shot poorly too. So what? It was a basketball game. The Lakers are the best team in the NBA and Kobe is the basketball player on the planet and now we should not resign Ron...for that.

I know..I know...and YAO's not a franchise player because if he was..yada, yada, yada he'd be meaner and dunk more and be more agressive and yad, yada, yada, and be able to jump higher, and run faster, and be quicker and rebound better and yada, yada, yada...as you sit home with a beer and yell at the freaking TV about the negative aspects of everyone else.

I hope Ron kicks someone's ass ON THE COURT...THIS YEAR...and I hope he gets EJECTED and SUSPENDED for it. I wish he would've popped Kobe because then, we'd be defending him for years like we do today with Mad Max. Drop Kobe a$$ on the floor and see how smug he looks then. Let that Powell cat scream at our fans one more time and let Landry put him in the first row. Is this how you play basketball? Nope! But it IS how you play basketball sometimes! IMO

Come on, he was playing against Kobe Bryant. After seeing his performance last night, he is far and away the best basketball player on the planet.

watch the game again. i saw on LP broadband and while kobe shot his fts at the end of the game and the game was decided knowing he just killed ron. he LITERALLY ignored ron and yet ron kept screaming out his name "kobe, kobe!!"

i mean, kobe as the winner, knew the game was over. yet ron kept yapping knowing he lost the battle.

you don't trash talk when you lose, esp. when you lose thoroughly.

all the great players you mentioned, yes, they do trash talk. but still to other great players when they lose the battle? i have NEVER seen that.

like i said, lebron and wade always hugged each other at midcourt during the game. when great players meet, they recognize greatness.

ron wanted kobe to acknowledge that ron's a great player too from the way he acted towards the end.

you just mentioned arguably a top 5 defender of all time, a top 3-4 center of all time, and a 2-time championship team.

    ron has done what?

like i said, were you happy when rafer went at chris paul last yr? the board wasn't.

    lol, funny

OK, to the Op, um, wow
Artest's defense was just off the charts
When Artests shows his defense off the team for some reason (leadership?) brings it even more. Haven't you ever noticed when Artest starts the game with high pressure or steals the teammates quickly follow suite.

As for the late quarter, thats just Kobe and if you are mad that Artest cant stop Kobe then your an idiot. Kobe is known for 4th quarter clutch and honestly takes more then one person to hold him back and when our other defender sucks (Battier role call....eye in the face doesnt cut it anymore) then what else can you do.

Yeah it sucks Artest had an off nite but it happens. For him having an off night, his defense sure as hell kept the game close.

What do you think Kobe is going to do in the playoff series? It's not all about him being ticked, eventually the guy is going to bring his A game and whoever is his opponent is going to have to deal with him and either win or lose. Saying all that the guy is NOT invincable. Boston showed the world what to do with a Kobe Bryant last year. Detroit Pistons showed the world what a TEAM can do with individual players. So at the end of the day the Lakers will be much better off winning as a TEAM. They beat the Rockets last night by 6 points not 26 points. I understand a win is a win and Kobe scored 37 points but looking at how we played in terms of 23 turnovers and many missed 3 pointers and Yao or Artest not scoring 20 points... OVERALL the Lakers are not that Great compared to the Rockets and the Rockets are not that BAD at all. At least wait till Kobe can win a championship without Shaq to put him on the level of Jordan.
