Yao fans not Rockets fans, yes perhaps, though both want the Rockets to win, because they know if Yao does well and the Rockets win, Yao wins. But turn the Rockets against America? Probably not true, because then they would lose all of their money. Besides, from my experience, the "submissive" Chinese race wouldn't attack others unless provoked, and the "dominant" American race attacks others even if unprovoked oftentimes uninstigated just because others are weak, and because they are trying to practice "might makes right", anotherwords, just for being born weak, as if it is a crime to be weak. That always breeds a response from people, even if the people who are attacking them hide it, deny it and disguise it while making themselves seem like a righteous man who is only doing the right thing and the weak and submissive like a dominating villain. Apparently, "might makes right", comes under mnany disguises. So, I hardly think that Chinese posters' try to turn the board against Americans, it is not in their best interests, and so they probably wouldn't do that. And I personally have never seen any instances where Chinese posters or alleged Chinese posters have tried to turn the board against Americans. And besides just who, pray tell, are these supposed Chinese posters trying to turn against Americans? Are they trying to turn Americans themselves on an American message board against Americans? Hardly likely.
No doubt but I was referring to Yao being able to create for himself more effectively if he could isolate effectively. He's just too slow to adapt to quicker teams, and we shouldn't rely on him down the stretch. But he's still a stud in my book!

almost every time we play an important game or near the end of the game (when the pressure is on) Yao chokes. I have been saying this for years...he is not a superstar. He is just a really really good offensive player that can easily be taken out of his game. I will say it over and over again the chances of the Rockets winning it all with Yao as the center piece are slim to none. If you know basketball then you know Yao won't cut it for this team. Our team would be so much better with a big who can play outside and pass and is mobile (gasol or garnett)
Yes, Yao can be taken out of a game if we can't execute a perfect counter to it. But, don't delude yourself into thinking that by taking Yao out and adding Gasol/Garnett, this team will be any better. We'd still be behind the Lakers (given that they also have Gasol), Celtics, Spurs, Cavs, and possibly Magic.

If you knew basketball then you would not have put Gasol's name up there. Paul is good but he is not a superstar either. He did not lead Memphis anywhere. He can give you a few things Yao lacks, more mobility, but he loses the double team Yao creates. Garnett, can fare better, but he is a top 5 player in the league and just a year or 2 ago, before the emergence of Howard, Jefferson, was maybe top 2 with only Duncan in the same class. How do expect to get him? You keep wishing for a perfect player, why not wish for Kobe, Lebron .. while u r at it.
I don't post very often but I spend a lot of my time here during every NBA season since this site started back in 97. I must say that I've never seen a more fickle bunch of fans ever, in any sports! One moment, everyone is saying that Yao is having a fantastic March on defense and the next game, he's the most useless player on our roster! What gives? Didn't look to me like Ron had a great game either yet we don't have a "Artest is THE most unclutch player EVER'' thread! I guess now that Tracy's out we do need a new scapegoat. And no, I'm not a 'Yao only Fan' or 'Tracy only Fan' (the abbreviation for both has been * out!) , I am first and foremost a Rockets fan and have been since the late 80s. Granted, I don't have the luxury of watching Rockets game except for those I download from Rocket2K (thanks, btw!) and for that very reason I don't post but I felt the need to get that off my chest! Btw, if any follow Rugby League in the NRL, I'm a long suffering Parramatta Eels fan!
Actually, this is pretty much all untrue. He's quite clutch. He may have some problems doing certain moves but he's a great basketball player in this league right now. Am I to assume that since he's NOT a superstar we should trade him? He can't be a player on this team because he's not a SUPERSTAR? Good Lord with some of y'all after these games... I don't care what happens, when the game is on the line, YOU GET THAT PASS DOWN LOW - - PERIOD!! That's basketball...
They can't get him the ball because he doesn't seal off his defender. He's been in the league long enough now to know how to use his body to seal off his defender. But when teams get serious about playing defense on him, he becomes a non-factor. We've seen this over and over again, now. I would NOT offer a max contract. If you have someone else on the team who can take over the game, then having Yao is fine. But if you're putting your eggs in his basket and hoping it's going to get you a ring, you're going to be disappointed. The danger isn't that you have Yao and he's not a good player. He is. The danger is that you assume Yao is the man. And you throw that kind of money to him, to the exclusion of chasing a guy who can really be counted on when it matters most.
Lowry never had problems getting the ball to Yao, the problem is with Brooks bounce pass. Its always too low and too slow so it always gets swatted away.
Brooks is not a good post entry passer. I've noticed since he's become the starting point guard that regardless of who is in the post, be it Yao or Landry or Scola, he is not comfortable doing it. More times than not he will either take the 3 point shot or dribble himself out of the area than pass it in. When nobody really had a scouting report on him, his bounce passes were high and he didn't really have a problem getting the ball in the post. But now that teams know who he is and against good pressure ... the quality of those passes have gone downhill.
Another knee jerk reaction. It's not like we haven't seen this in the past. Do you know why you are so angry at Yao? Because your expectations are too high. The league want the game to be fast and Yao is not. He'll give you a solid 20 and 10, create some double team and pass to open man. But in the last 2 min, you need a great perimeter player to finish games.
