He was one of the 2 guards I had always been hoping Morey would get. The other one was signed by the Spers to replace Barry. His name is Roger Mason. Jr. :(

Lowry should do much better than just getting by. He has the IQ, toughness, and is one of the few Rockets who is actually looking for contact when driving in.

If Lowry is anything like Parker, I will be ecstatic. Parker just has a knack for finishing in traffic and finishing tough plays. So does Lory but Parker is simply on a different level. I know it sounds strange but I consider Parker an interior player.

One big difference between the two: Parker keeps his dribble alive much longer which makes him more dangerous.. I am not sure if that's something that can be learned.

the big question: Can Lowry develop a reliable 20 footer like Parker did?

I guess I dont have confidence in his outside shooting atm.

Lowry ALREADY has that ability. His mid-range shooting percentage is leading the whole team. Check it in the Hotzone.

Very small sample size for me atm. If he was so confidence in his outside shot, he would be taking a lot more, especially since teams are giving it to him right now.

Let's not get carried away. I think he's a great floor general, but as far as All-Star, he doesn't have the quickness to take it to Parker's level. Most of his damage comes in the fullcourt, but I don't think he can consistently wreak havoc in the halfcourt off the dribble like Parker.

Seriously, I am starting to see him as potentially being a poor man's Steve Francis with his strength and ability to finish, although I will -- thankfully -- note that Lowry seems much more heady a player. I think his decision making abilities would far surpass those of a Steve Francis, just not his row talents.

If he develops a consistent jumper, he has the potential to be an All-star. Not at Parker's level. Parker is too quick and too great a finisher.

The comparison was brought up by durvasa to state that he can be a good/very good player even without a 3 point shot.

You don't have to be spectacular to be an All-Star.

I really liked the leadership he showed when Artest had that funny look in his eye, and was pondering how Bryant would look as a bit of modern art, predominately red, smeared on the floor.

After a long time.. we have a point guard who does not jack up shots.. loved the way he played today..

and i was mighty impressed with the way he handled the Artest-Kobe situation. he had a nice talk with artest after that kobe elbow and brought artest back to sanity in that situation..

    although that didnt last. :p

From what I've seen, he has a very reliable 20 footer already. He's mainly shot it off the dribble, rather than catch and shoot. Maybe he's just not a good catch and shoot player ... kind of like Steve Francis.

Right now, he's shooting 28/53 on long 2-point jump shots for the season. Not a ton of attempts on the season, but that's an outstanding percentage.

I think Lowry should be our starting Pg, he passes more and keeps attacking to the rim,he have a better court version thanAB,and to the most important, his D is really good.
I think AB can do better with our bench players..........
I'm glad to see that Lowry played more time than AB in yesterday's game.

I do not think the ROX could have asked for anything in addition to getting rid of Swifts 6 mil/yr contract for 3 years.

honestly, even though I hate to say this, in Steve Francis's pre season game against Memphis in 07 when he looked liked old steve, there was also the old steve getting lit up because he couldn't keep lowry in front of him. I knew lowry could play back then

edit: last night his lack of a jumper was exposed though

My thoughts as well. Lowry is a good player, but people are making him out to be some sort of 24k diamond in the rough that just needs polishing. He is young enough that he may someday develop into that but right now, not really no. All I have seen so far is that he does show better floor management then Brooks but that alone isn't enough for me to want him to start at this point.

I was a big fan of Randy Foye in college so I watched Lowry a lot. He's a philly pg and you can tell. Constant attacking and just knows how to hoop. His outside shot could be better but its definately not as weak as rod strickland or mark jackson's when they were on the rox.

He's only 22 and I'm glad he's getting PT here and hopes he wants to stay

Morey was the one who didn't press hard enough to get the 24th pick (Lowry) in the Rudy Gay trade, a travesty in and of itself but compounded by that fact.

Morey was not the GM. It wasn't his job to press harder for the 24th pick. He gave the recommendation to go after Battier, but was he calling all the shots in that draft? I never heard that.

And the Rockets were trying to move up to pick up Lowry, but they couldn't do it.
