Rather than the usual "he sucks, no he sucks", let me ask a couple questions: 1. Has the Rockets ever win a game when Yao played more than the first quarter consecutively? *I remembered two this season, but times lost. 2. Has AB had a good game against good defensive teams? * You can pull up his game log stats, and see big swings in point production. Good games are usually against weak defensive games. The best production against a good defensive team is maybe..Denver game? 3. How many shots does Yao usually put up against the Lakers? * He put up 9 tonight. It was 18 the last game, while Rafer was starting (we almost pulled out a win). His career stats is 14.5 shots against lakers, actually not below his average. You can act like DD and say: Yao hasn't learned whatever in 7 years, it won't help. Or, you can think by starting to ask questions. 4. Post questions of your own that you think are relevant. *asking questions is usually good for finding the answer.
Is Yao the focus of the offense or a roleplayer? I would have to say roleplayer since his shots per game have been steadily declining since the allstar break and when Rafer was traded. He's taken the fewest shots/game since his sophomore season so we can't really expect much out of him. Adelman wants a passing center and if Yao can't be that jumpshooting passer, then he won't be factored into the Rockets offense as much.
Right now? None, they hasn't figure out how to solve the double problem, and centers alone can't really be the go to guy in today's game.
Its strange that our bench players play much better than starting players, now starting lineup players need to keep consistent, learn from role players. Also why our 3's damn recently?
I don't care what people say. T-mac was that guy ( when at least 80% healthy) and I want him back next season with the rockets
No one even knows if Tmac is still gonna be a Rocket next season for sure or not so i wouldn't comment on Tmac much right now. but the question was: Isn't RA's system supposed to NOT have any go-to guy??? whoever is open or hot i guess.....
Certainly doesn't seem like it in 4th quarters. We can probably rely on Durvasa for some charts on that one.
Yao has been in the league 7 years and has not learned how to get wide, get his elbows out and seal his man. I learned this at the YMCA in the 5th grade, not sure why it is taking Yao so long to figure out. The team missed too many 3pt shots tonight they hit their usual percentage and they win going away. But since you made this about Yao...he stunk tonight.....he played soft, he didn't play with force. I really want him to put some elbows into people and command his space, instead he plays nice. Yao is a great guy, a wonderfully skilled player, he is just not, nor (I fear) will he ever be a superstar. He just does not have the killer instinct in him....the bit that wants to step on opponents throats and choke out their wind...... Too bad, we really could use that from him. DD
LOL, as I predicted, all you can say it whoever sucked. Care to answer any of the listed questions? Do you have a different answer? What can you draw by answering those questions?
good point. it's hard to find someone open when you are trailing and with heaps of t/o. that's why we had so many collapses in the past..... it's easy to build up a lead with a group of 'good' role players but once the game is one the line and under pressure, these guys just can't handle too well sometimes....
Why did Yao just shoot 9 times? I predict your answer would be like nobody is capable of passing him the ball in a good way. When you cannot catch the ball or protect the ball, you discourage your teammates. When you are unwilling to attack, your teammates will shoot more from outside, even with a very poor percentage.
a fat joint will lay you off from these thoughts DD. Yao isn't ever gonna become someone who will just kill everybody on the court. NEVER. sorry to tell you that but im sure you already know but just don't wanna admit it. I love him too but you just can't be too hard on him i guess. again, have joint and lay off all these thoughts
good question. Lakers did a good job on D against him tonight no doubt about it and that could be a part of the answer to your question. and plus he wasn't in attack mode. what a question, it gets me confused just from trying to answer it
Again, He had 18 last time, with BOTH Gasol and Bynum playing. His career average is about 15. What changed? As far as I can telll, Yao played the same as usual. Under Adelman, he usually wait for the defense to develop before making a move. The laker's length give him a bit problems in passing out, but that's not the only problem. Laker's length was there the last time. He asked for repost, but didn't get it. He certainly can do better. But he won't be a player just can take over by himself. Probably, never. As far as TOs concerned, Artest has 6, by far the most on the team. Does it prevent him from getting the ball from other players?
and I'd tag this question: when Yao Ming is guarded by a mobile defender: What's the percentage of TO it results when you throw a low bounce entry pass versus a high pass to chest/shoulder?
my go to guy is get up 20 pts before 4th quarter and just try to hang on. Close games against a quality like this, just hang up the jerseys
