To me the only person that I felt gave a showstopping performance was Adam Lambert. You might not like the guy, but he gives some sick performances. That guy with a little more attitude and a boatload of mind altering drugs could be the next Axl Rose. Megan should have sung smooth criminal, but she is too scared to take a challenge.
agreed about lambert. he's so over the top it's ridiculous. and he's a one trick pony. it's gonna be hilarious watching him integrate his stupid screaming into every song. sadly, by default, he's still better than about 9 of them. i'd say all but 3 are borderline awful. lil rounds gets hyped because her name is stupid. she's as mediocre as they come, and they love her for no reason. if she was white and had a normal name, she'd have been cut in hollywood at the latest. this is easily the most talentless idol yet. danny gokey has the best, most effortless voice in all 8 seasons of idol, imo. i like matt giraud, but i thought he was boring this week, and was boring a few weeks ago when he sang coldplay. he doesnt have the ability to impress every week. the 16 y/o is interesting, all the rest of the girls are total garbage. that's basically it. danny gokey is ridiculous, giraud and the 16 y/o are good enough, lambert at least provides some bizarre entertainment, and the other 9 are total garbage, and arent going to get any better.
Well, not to pick on her, but Megan was predictably awful this week. Her extreme awkwardness in everything she does reminds me of Summer Glau trying to pass for a human in the Terminator TV show. Except, Summer Glau is actually acting, and Megan, well, isn't.

He could have really killed it if he did something instead of staying even keeled in tempo/emotion/range the whole time I liked Adam last time with the Satisfaction thing. Not the same this time, not sure what's up w/the judges on him Great quote on Megan farting into the mic and the judges liking it.. Hoping Anoop and Jorge get another shot to see if they can turn it around. So any 2 out of Alexis/Jasmine/Megan/Michael should go (I think)
The closest I can get to accurately describing Lambert is wretched. I'm not sure there are words in the English language that will allow me to be any more accurate. The way the judges collectively gave him a proverbial BJ just screamed of the show being rigged, in my opinion. Especially when Matt came out after and gave a very good performance and the judges gave him decent reviews at best. In fact, the first thing to come out of Simon's mouth was a comment about how Matt was in a tough spot because he had to follow "such a great" performance by Lambert. Then, after he said that Matt was "solid", everyone on the panel started agreeing with him like it was Family Fued and Simon had just hit the jackpot for how they could compliment Matt without stealing Lambert's thunder. "Solid...yeah, that's it. Solid! Good answer!" Bottom line is that I think they've pegged Lambert as a top 3 player already. It's ridiculous.

Also, I hope that "cutter" comment doesn't cost Alison too many votes..
Exactly what I thought. That last note he hit....it was so flat that it was actually a 1/2 step below the actual root note. I mean, it was so flat that it was actually the WRONG NOTE. So basically, he ended on a major 7 instead of the root (for my fellow music nerds). And the judges said nothing about it. Not even Simon. When he was (thankfully) done, I turned to my wife and said "Paula is going to cream in her pants as usual, but the other 3 judges are going to rip him a new one." We were both shocked that they proceeded to basically tell him that he was better than Michael Jackson. That was the moment I decided that this show is rigged. That was just beyond explanation. Seriously, he was just GOD AWFUL. I like that Lil chick. Sure, her ass is HUGE, but I love her voice. She can bring it like none of the other girls can. Vocally, I think she may be the best of the whole bunch. Meagan was pretty bad, but she has a really nice rack. And I say that with the greatest of respect. But what’s with that horrible tattoo? She looks like Edie Brickell on meth. The guy that played piano and sang Human Nature was the best guy, IMO. I really liked the way he sang falsetto for the high parts. Very smooth voice, and he’s clearly very talented. The guy that sang PYT was pretty good too. He also has a very soulful voice for a dorky white boy. He may have just a little Joe Cocker in him. But yeah, Adam will probably win this whole thing, even though he didn’t even deserve to make it to Hollywood, IMO. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why they like this douche so much. Is it the wallet chain? The black fingernail polish? The Fallout Boy haircut? What is it??? Because it CAN’T be his voice…. EDIT: Also, LOL at the guy who "played" the guitar while doing the Dave Matthews dance. I'm surprised he didn't come out bare-footed....
I hated the vast majority of the performances last night. (I guess MJ is letting them use his songs for cheap, since he's trying to make a comeback? I wonder how much money he lost this last year.) Those that I thought were 'ok' were ripped a new one. Those performances that I thought were painful (screaming 'emo' guy') were gushed over. I don't think I'll watch the show again this year... I might watch the finals. P.S. My vote is still on Ironman winning it. P.P.S. Seriously, no Thriller?
Danny, Allison, Alexis, and Matt are keepers. The rest can go home now. And, yes, that includes Mr. Lambert.

doubtful. i like the veto power...will prevent some of the ridiculous things that have happened in the past, and they've seen those happen...so they won't use it on her even though they like her. Good job knocking out 2 of the weakest links today
It was funny to hear Seacrest explain how the veto power may have been used to save Daughtry when, according to the rules, the veto power would not have been in use (since it is not used the last 5 weeks of the show).
don't really understand how the 2nd part has anything to do with anything though, but yes, guilty as charged. i don't really post on other message boards on the web. i don't see what's wrong with voicing my complaints about the show.
It's just odd to me why you would continue to watch a show that is "rigged", "predictable" and "sickening" and has a system that is "unfair" and "r****ded".
nice.. except I wouldn't call that one unfair. That game was Deron'ed. But I've also already eliminated most of the game from memory, so I probably blacked out the stuff that fits your description..
