I really didn't think Odom is this valuable to the Lakers till now. To be fair, I feel like Odom at times can probably hurt the Lakers. But his versatility, experience and playmaking ability is quite key for the Lakers now that Bynum is out.

Since Odom didn't play against us last time, the Lakers still won. I thought I would have to worry, It's slightly going away. :)

It was never in danger. Utah has so many tough games to play. Roeckts had a very favorable schedule during that streak.

I don't watch the Lakers enough to assess his value, but based on his adjusted +/- he looks to be extremely valuable to them.

Kobe will take a ton of shots in the second to try and be a Hero. I think Artest and Battier just have to make him take bad shots and nothing easy.

Odom played against Rox last time, and he was the main reason Rox lost.

    not very efficient, indeed.

but he attacks the basket and makes the defense collapse and rotate. that creates for others. he breaks down the defense. that's of utmost importance and its not in the stat sheet.

he should do that without taking as many bad shots though.... in a perfect world.

u do know they lost to the blazers WITH odom right?

they miss bynum for his defense and rebounding. we're exploiting that right now.

Key to the second half is to not let Kobe go crazy and protect the ball. We had too many turnovers in the first half, and the Lakers will look to turn up the intensity.

He is quite valuable, he does play the point forward position for them and he plays it quite well. He plays it a lot when Kobe is resting and sitting on the bench.

His versatility is what the Lakers miss, there really isn't anything he can't do. His long range shooting is just inconsistent.

I feel the same way. Shane, you are not shooting well and at the very least, you gotta do a better job on locking down Kobe.

Rebounding is also key, those athletic/hustle guys like Ariza, Powell, etc... Kept stealing and attacking the ball from Yao and Scola when they got the rebound.

They need to secure it much better. Yao needs to focus a bit more on Gasol too. I would rather have Yao shut Gasol down then torch him.

wanna know how scared the nuggets were to play us?

Kmart came back form injury early, just for that one game.. and after our game he's back on the deactivated list.

if battier hadn't retired from making open 3's we could really be up. actually if the whole team wasn't missing we could really be up. wafer had one of the better 3-9 halves i've seen.

the bench unit just tore it up. every lackadaisical defensive play by the lakers was taken advantage of with a layup it seemed like.

I think now that scola has emerged, you can have some more rest. Scola is just as efficient as Yao as of late

Very interesting defensive numbers so far-- seems like the perfectly exectued Daryl Morey game plan: avoid giving up FTs, 3 pointers and other high efficiency attempts and you'll be fine even if the opposing teams FG% don't look too bad.

Lakers shot 47.6% from the field. Looks nice? Wrong. They were 0 for 5 on 3s, and 0-2 on FTs. Not only did they not hit any, attempts are also low. As a result, they only had 40 points on 42 shots plus 2 FTs. With 6 offensive boards and 9 TOs, I think that translates to 40 points on 46 possession... a pretty abysmal offensive efficiency.

No fouls on Yao yet, what a surprise.
