Scola needs to be part of the closer by committee too. He has the ability to create his shot on the low block. He is no Yao Ming but the team needs to keep on looking out for him and also Landry when Yao is being fronted. Battier can only take outside shots when he is open,Aaron is creative but is error prone.Lowry can make up for Aaron's mistakes to some extent.

Yao closed out the Blazer game until that Roy guy hit a 40 footer.

pistons title team had mr. big shot and hakeem had big shot bob, supermario, sam i am, and even kenny who sank big 3's to win games.......it will be hard to advance in the playoffs without a couple players on this team growing some balls in the clutch first.....already we've lost at least 20 double-digit leads in the 4th this year as it stands

Go Brooks and Yao first, then Artest, Scola or Wafer can be open due to the defensive collapse, this has been demonstrated to be OK in this year.

Those Rocket teams also lost huge leads.

It will be hard of course, that is a given for any team, that's why I think its funny the media is already gearing up for the Lakers vs Lebron or Lakers vs Celtics so quickly. They'd be pissed off if it didn't happen they talk about those three teams so much you'd think 27 other teams were already giving up on their season.

Just buy the DVD set which includes the full 7 games as seen on broadcast TV minus commercials, and the hour long clutch city video. Highest possible recommendation for any Rockets fan.

    Artest
    Wafer
    Brooks
    and maybe..Battier

I would say Wafer has the best chance of being a closer since he has a quick release and shows no hesitation

Tracy is Not the closer even in his prime. Otherwise, his Orlando would have not lost to Pistons when up 3-1.

Use Yao as a decoy, feed the open guy. Or let Yao shoot if he's within five feet of the basket. Any one of the guys on the team right now can hit the open shot.

Damn you Roy, and T-mac ofcourse lazy b*stard.

Yao can score, but just take a look at the spurs, they don't go to Tim Duncan and say ok Tim Do something.

They let Manu and Parker create, and they find their three point shooters or they drive, you dont give a post player the ball, the league is guard friendly and post player biased, its too easy to stop a post player as a TEAM, as an individual ofcourse not. Thats why you see Guards scoring 50/60 pts in a game nowdays, thats why Jamaal Crawford has a higher career high in pts than Yao.

i hope so. brooks is getting there though b/c he has both the penetration and shooting game. if he had the playmaking down, i would trust brooks with the ball down the stretch.

Out of all 4 of those, the only one who could be close to a closer would be Artest. Brooks can close, if he is having a good game. He is way too streaky right now though to rely on. Wafer shoots well maybe 1/5 of his games. Unless he is taking it to the rim, I wouldnt dare give him the ball in clutch time. Battier? Really? Have you watched him play this year? Unless you are saying a closer can be a defensive closer (which it can be), Battier would not be my go-to guy.

Battier could redeem himself in the playoffs.

not until the past few years that duncan isn't their main guy down the stretch. parker has gotten much better and manu got better too, but duncan also declined a little.

trust me, in his first 7-8 years, duncan was THE guy down the stretch. you remember those 2 huge shots v. the lakers before fisher's miracle shot? and how they went to him constantly.

duncan isn't as quick and dominant offensively as he once was. they still go to him, but not as much.

hopefully we're not in a position where a win/loss is determined by shane's shots in the playoffs.

somebody is going to be open because defenses in the playoffs will do their best to smoother Yao in the post in a final possession.

The piston is the only WC team without a super star since magic/bird in league on 1979. But they have 5 boardline all-stars at their peaks in the same time and played with a broken lakers team. This stats basically said no Franchise players, no WC unless you gether 5 all stars on peaks.
