Williams played in nine games with the Warriors, averaging 1.3 points and 1.4 assists after Golden State acquired him in a summer trade with New Jersey. The club hoped he would win their starting point guard job, but the former first-round pick never gained the favor of coach Don Nelson.

Williams hadn’t played in a game since Jan. 25.

Does Don Nelson like any of his players. He wants Jamal Crawford to opt out.He wants to trade Ellis. He told Anthony Randolph he's not any good. What kind of players does Nellie like? They were a fun team to watch that year they beat the Mavs in the playoff.

I heard Nellie got Belinelli a puppy early last year and made him shoot it recently to toughen him up.

You think Marcus Williams is starting material? He's below average in just about any NBA skill.

I think the best thing anyone could say about him is he hits a respectful 80% from the stripe.

Pistons should sign him since it will probably be an upgrade over Iverson anyways.

Did Marcus even play? Wow give up a 1st for basically nothing.

This should be Don Nelson's last year.

We should have signed him to be an emergency PG in case (knock on wood) our other 2 PG's get injured.

I didn't say he was starting material, but the way he coaches is just a joke. He pretty much doesn't want any players on his team. Williams had some talent coming out of college, I think he couldda done something on that terrible team

    Yep.

Golden State's own 2011 1st round pick to New Jersey (top 14 protected in the 2011 Draft, top 11 protected in 2012, and top 10 protected in the 2013 Draft). However, if New Jersey has not yet received this first round pick by the 2013 draft, then New Jersey shall instead receive: (i) Golden State's own 2013 2nd round pick and (ii) Golden State's own 2015 2nd round pick.

Marcus Williams is definitely NOT starting material, and not even really NBA material. However, in my opinion, Don Nelson has completely ruined that team and left that roster devoid of any real talent. I'm not sure how much blame goes to that front office (which is also in complete shambles), but I feel really bad for Warrior fans. They've proven over the last couple of seasons that they are amongst the best fans out there, and they deserve so much more than what they're getting. Given how depleted that roster is now compared to that year they made the playoffs, I wouldn't be surprised if it's another 15 years before they make the playoffs. In 2007, you had guys like Baron Davis, Jason Richardson, Stephen Jackson, Monta Ellis coming off the bench, Andris Biedrins having a breakout year....now? You have Maggette jacking up shot after shot, you have Monta being an irresponsible kid, you have no real scoring threat outside of Stephen Jackson, and you have Don Nelson being an old, grumpy man. It's sad.

WOW, surprise, surprise! But I told ya so.

told ya guys Nelson wouldnt play Williams and Williams would be out of the league in no time when he got traded.

Williams is just terrible - cant shoot, then his passing skill is just like a sprinkler that splashes the ball everywhere on the court into turnovers.

Hey, maybe Morey shall bring Williams to the Rockets. There are a few Williams boy/fantasy fanz post here too.

He has/had NBA-level talent and court vision. I haven't seen him play in garbage time lately to get a feel if he still has NBA game anymore. Probably not considering his release. Still, he's a sad yet somewhat typical story of wasted talent/potential due to bad attitude, poor work ethic and this notion that you can get away with half-assing it in the NBA. Some can get away with that but if you're a 6'2" average athlete with no outside shot you're toast. Apparently Marcus never got that memo. Oh well, back to stealing laptops I guess!

I once thought he would be a really good pick-up for the Rockets. He is a much better PG than most here will give him credit. Williams is a half-court PG, which is why he didn't fit Nellie's system. However, we are trying to go for a more up-tempo game ourselves, so I no longer believe he would be a good fit for the Rockets.

I still think Houston should give him a chance. he has strong body and and height. He used to play with Jason kidd.He is young and he got some NBA experience which can help him to be mature although it is not successful
