Great interview. I never knew Bill Simmons was this funny. Morey and Simmons seem like best friends; great chemistry there.
I went to listen to the BS Report and BAM!!! Daryl Morey is the guest. Came here, and of course it was posted yesterday. ClutchFans never disappoints.
Yeah he said Yao, and offered it as an explanation for why Yao gets along with Artest so much. This was the best interview of Morey yet. I've never heard him disclose so much, perhaps even to his own detriment. Like Simmons said, if he gets any more exposure he will start to antagonize both his GM peers as well as the general wishy washy fans of the NBA that hate anything that gets hyped up too much.
I would take Parker over Paul all day and I would take Ginobli over most two's in the league. Those guys are winners period.
So DM reads message boards? Hmmmmmmmmmmm, I wonder what he thinks about our knee jerk reaction threads.
I'm glad Morey sees the problem. That's what I always called for. Current Rockets is much better than JVG era other than no perimeter go to player. This perimeter go to player does not need to be a high scorer, but should be a good finisher who can deliver in a key situation. In addition, Utah is a tough match-up for Houston, but I don't see NO is a bad one.
really, Parker over Paul? Paul is single handedly keeping his team in contention for homecourt advantage in the first round. if he stays healthy for 10 more years (he's only 23), he's a first ballot HOFer, and a top 5 PG of all time. the Spurs went 9-5 in that November where Parker missed 9 games and Ginobili missed 10 games and together about 7, where they still went 5-2. i would say Duncan is the engine that makes that train go; those other two do help, but are largely benefactors (champions/winners) of the greatest PF to play the game. Ginobili has been unable to get big starter minutes his entire career (< 30 mpg for 6 of 7 seasons, and one season with 31 mpg). i really not sure why he's not playing more for being such an elite SG. one would think that playing him more would help the success of the team. sure, he's been bothered by his ankle the last couple years, but even if perfectly healthy, he's still on the downside of his career at 31, 32 in July. i don't think he'll ever play in the all-star game again. the last and only time he played in it was in 05.
I can't pinpoint, just a feeling. Maybe it's the Deke thing. Overall, the board has been getting its wishes.
