It was an AWESOME play, too bad Chuck also gave FT lessons to the team before the game.

I've been a fan of Chuck ever since he became a rocket. He always devotes himself to the game.Never complain about the time or something else. When he stays on the bench, he cheers for teammates' good plays. Maybe sometimes he has to seat on the bench for couples of games, having no chance to play. But whenever he is put on the court, he provides us with amazing effects and he really touches me.

Great play by Hayes. He got caught with a stone cold stunner for his effort, but he made the play

accidental whistle. meaning they shouldn't have blown the whistle and just let it go after aaron got the ball from chuck. the refs probably didn't believe they saw a marvelous save.

we took it to the sideline and it did cost us a timeout though.

    Hilarious irony in this game:

    1) Chuck Hayes also drew the game winning charge the last time The Rockets played The Nuggets and Worrell and Drexler got the play wrong (remember they were claiming Nene cleared out Luis Scola when it was actually Scola holding Nene).

    2) In this game, Scola winds up fouling out after holding Nene, which is something he has done all season and not gotten busted for, otherwise Chuck would not have gotten into the game. Then Chuck makes the save of the game and the announcers and the refs don't even know what the hell happened.

It's ironic. If they no-call the Chuck Hayes charge in the first game, Luis Scola gets whistled for the foul and The Rockets lose. If Scola doesn't foul out by holding on 2 straight possessions, he would have stayed in the game and continued to blow his defensive assignment and The Rockets lose. :)

^^ but if scola didn't commit his 6th foul, denver would've scored 2 fewer points ot at least had to burn some clock to score. or scola can actually snatch a rebound and that's even better for us.

the reason why no what-if's in bball games.

My take was that they were deciding whether to call the foul on JR Smith or not, because he did trip Chuck.

it was a great save by chuck and the reason why he dove after it was it hit him in the hands when the ball came down. he knew he had to get it back for the rockets! Great game by the rockets even though we lost a large lead, but hey what can you ask for playing on b2b in the thin air of denver

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I was looking at Hayes' shooting percentages in college.

He shot 73.3% from the line for his career (288/393).

He also shot 24.4% from behind the arc (19/78)!!! That isn't good but not awful either for a PF.

    Simple question: What happened?

Hayesfan, I know you watched him a lot at Kentucky. Do you have any insight? I honestly don't mean to bash Hayes in any way. It's just a very curious dropoff, particularly from the line.

I wondered about that too, maybe he focused so much on defending that he forgot how to shoot :D But just look at his form, even when laying it up, it's just clumsy and almost like he is one of those kids you have in gym class who does not have any 'feeling' for any (ball) sport whatsoever. It's kind of sad because he's such a good defender, if only he could shoot FTs like a real basketball player and work on his form in general so he can make a freaking jumpshot. Has he ever made a jumpshot in the NBA ?

Also how in the world can you shoot FTs in practice and have a good form, according to the Rockets players last year, and not do it during games ? He supposedly doesn't do that stupid step in practice etc. So how about his form, does he also change that for games ??

It's really ridiculous because no1 should shoot a FT like that, that's not how you learn that at all. I bet his coaches at Kentucky are embarrassed by his FT shooting and do not even watch a single game because of it. Picture everybody joking at them:
"Hey, I saw your boy Chuck playing last night, this guy played for you right ? How come he cannot shoot FTs, what's up with that travelling huh, what's wrong with him coach ??" :D
