Who was the idiot that said he'd rather have Tracy McGrady than Ron Artest? That wasn't me, was it? It was? OK, never mind.

The Rockets won a big, big game Monday night. They won even though Yao Ming and Luis Scola fouled out, even though they missed 15 foul shots and even though Yao didn't have a great game.

They won anyway and now they've got a tiebreaker advantage over the Nuggets in a potential playoff matchup. Personally, I'd rather go to Portland, but that's just me.

Let's just say Ron Artest is one tough guy. He has taken enough all the slack and then some since Tracy McGrady went down. He has also given the Rockets a toughness they didn't have before.

There's always a certain amount of weirdness with Artest, but let's don't quibble with the details.

Shane Battier wondered recently if the Rockets didn't have too much talent on the floor early in the season. Artest deferred to McGrady too much, McGrady was never himself and the Rockets lost some games they shouldn't have lost.

Now they've got the same group for practices and games, and they're getting better by the day. Texas A&M's Josh Carter said last week he felt like his team was getting better by the possession. That's the way it feels with the Rockets at the moment.

I have been saying that since the beginning of the season. I laughed at those who thought T-Mac was the MVP for this team, even over Yao.

Artest is clearly better and more valuable than T-Mac. The only thing T-Mac really has over Artest is his passing, nothing more. T-Mac is a worse shooter, just as bad efficiently at scoring, Much worst defender, and shows no hustle what so ever.

If T-Mac was playing like he did in his prime in Orlando, Clearly T-Mac would be better than Artest and he would probably have a case against Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

But his prime has past, he is done for. Artest is clearly better than Tracy McGrady.

Unlike Mcgrady, Artest can actually hit the three and play defense.

Its one thing for you guys to make knee jerk threads right after a game.
But when professionals make knee jerk articles... Dude c'mon.
I could put on my serious face and outdo RJ at his own job with ease.

    i like his humility.
in the lockerroom interview tonite, he kept praising yao.
he said, 'When you have a team with Yao and a supporting cast, you have a chance ti win every night'.

I like that...that's 'different' than tracy.
    its refreshing.

There are a lot of players that are better than the Tracy McGrady we saw this season. That's really not saying a whole lot.

Ron is consistent. Consisten in terms of hustle, energy and will to do what it takes to win games.

Tmac is a joke. He is the WWF of basketball. HE should play for the Harlem globetrottersomething.

A healthy Tmac fits Yao better on offense. He's the only guy who can get the ball right under the basket for an easy shot consistently.

Artest fits Yao better on defense. He stops his guy from penetrating to reduce Yao's fouls.

on a side note, Yao made a stupid-rookie mistake tonight when he fouled out. Yao GROWUP. We cannot win the big one if you keep on getting that cheap foul.

this year's mcgrady, yea sure. a lot of guys are better than this year's mcgrady.

not last year's though. can artest do what tracy did last yr when yao went down? before this year, tracy was our MVP every year.

this year was really bad for him.

LOL! Are you kidding me? Of all the reactionary nonsense, why am I not surprised by this?

A healthy T-Mac is the perfect fit for Yao's game. That's really never been in question.

    Wow.

Tracy was better when he was healthy. But his lack of toughness (mental and physical) and his worthless public blatter got to be tiresome. I'm glad he's gone and hope he never plays another game as a Rocket.
