Testing drug's effects costs teen his life Associated Press FORT WORTH -- Eighteen-year-old Randy Kalmoe wanted to prove to a friend that ingesting heroin once couldn't develop an addiction. So the high school senior from Aledo, who said he'd never taken heroin before, swallowed two heroin capsules and sat down in front of his computer to chronicle the drug's effects. A half-page journal entry would be the last thing Kalmoe wrote. His father, Robert Kalmoe walked into his son's bedroom the morning of May 4 to find the unfinished journal entry on the computer screen and his son unconscious. Three days later, Randy Kalmoe died at Harris Methodist Fort Worth, the victim of an apparent overdose, according to preliminary autopsy findings. --- yep, ingesting it once won't addict you, it will KILL YOU!!! SMACK KILLS
No kidding. What an idiot and people like that deserve to die. If you are that stupid then I'm glad that you kill yourself off because you shouldn't procreate and fill our world with more idiots.
It's funny to see someone with your tag call someone else an idiot. Perhaps you deserve to die since you meet your own criteria. This was an 18 year old kid! Was it smart? No. Did he deserve to die? No.
Yeah you know me and the name I use obviously makes me an idiot. I didnt say all idiots should die because if that is the case then we would all be in trouble. Idiots that take herion to prove that it isnt addictive when it has been proved millions of time that it is, I have no sympathy for. I do believe in survival of the fittest and that it is the way of the world to weed out the bad apples. Read the article above. Case and point.
All this time I thought Master Baiter was in refrence to fishing. . . . . The kid does not deserve to die, thats for sure. he mad a mistake, althought it was a dumb mistake. However, I hope this does not happen to me every time I make a dumb mistake
If he had survived this, he could have watched Pulp Fiction to find out the effects of heroin as it passes through the human respiratory system.
As long as we are on the topic of Darwin Awards and therefore evolution: A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attackst the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers, and that's why beer is so GOOD for you!
why take two when you can take one? umm....first timers shouldn't take two of anything unless their idiots. With heroine, this guy must have been completely naive. Where did he get the idea he should take two? Whomever gave it to him should be brought up on murder charges? People always take more heroine than is necessary even though they know it kills via OD-ing. I have to question where their brains are when they make these decisions. Don't worry...I'm not condoning his actions. I wouldn't take any given the choice. I had some friends in college do something just as stupid one time. They wanted to try crack so they drove to a suspect part of town, bought some, and used it once. I never could figure out what they thought they were doing besides proving they are complete dumbasses. They knew it was addictive but decided they would not be addicted using just one time. Thankfully...it all worked out in the end but why take the chance? They were not writing in a journal, either, to prove the point. Unbelievable.
Well, I can understand someone wanting to take heroin once just to prove to themself that they can overcome its addiction. It's sort of like a personal test or trial, similar to climbing Mr. Everest or ski-jumping over a gorge. So, I don't begrudge the guy his experiment. In a way, I kind of admire his initiative and the confidence he had in his own iron will. I do not, however, admire his intelligence. Taking two capsules was pretty stupid.
