in your scenario would we have HCA or would Utah by virtue of a better record? remember folks, this happened two years in a row- we were the 4th best team with the 5th seed... we got HCA each time and LOST
I'm feeling good about our chances today. I'll say we get the #3 seed and advance to the second round.
i feel like i am being very cautious about my pick.. but i'm gonna put the rockets at 6th. any loss can drop any team in the west 2 to 3 spots. and we have a brutal schedule. i believe the best we can do, and the best that any team would realistically pull off against all these playoff contending teams is to win .750 at home and .333 on the road. assuming we don't drop any more game against teams with losing records, i think we have 10 wins and 8 losses left. a 51 win team can probably get a 6th seed, but we may be tied with someone else that's 7th or 5th, and by virtue of tiebreaker, yaddi yadda... i'm gonna assume we get the 6th seed.. if anything, i would like the 2/3/6/7 seedings so we can avoid the lakers till the conf finals anyway.
I would really love to avoid the upper bracket. Getting like Denver, NO, Dallas, or Portland in the first, then SA in the second round. I think that gives us the best chance to make it to the WCF
I am with you for the 3# seed chance, but the #4 seed is fine too foe me as long as we can get the HCA.
The Rockets remaining schedule is TOUGH. I will say 5-6, and I voted for 6. If I had confidence in the team, I'd vote 3rd.
No kidding. The Suns are toast, and the Rockets are going to the Playoffs. We could fall to #7 or even #8 if we play poorly, but there's no way we miss the Playoffs at this point.
Hollinger's model, coolstandings.com, and basketball reference all have the Rockets making the playoffs some certainty (say about 95%) I'd say there is a chance (maybe about 3%) that we miss the playoffs although not a very high chance.
No playoffs! blathersby, fogo11606, hcw128, RHU525, sammy, XBLRocketman111 6 3.95% Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hell?
If I had to predict i'd say probably the 4th seed and/or same scenario as last two years: 4th best record although technically the 5th seed with HCA. Personally, I don't really care what seed we end up in just so long as we secure HCA. Sure, i'd like to avoid LA, SA or Utah in the first round but our record is so strong at home you would think we should have a fighting chance against anybody with HCA. Still, would love to see Denver or Portland more than anything.
I'll say 4th seed with a matchup with the Nuggets in the first round. 1. LAL 2. SAS 3. UTA 4. HOU 5. DEN 6. NOH 7. POR 8. DAL
Don't forget the Hornets currently have one less loss than we do so once they catch up in terms of games played they could move ahead of us. We have still played 3 more games than they have.
Lakers Spurs Jazz - harder schedule but healthy and playing great, will win division. Nuggets - almost healthy, easiest schedule. Hornets - playing good, healthy, easier schedule. Rockets - hardest schedule, T-Mac out, Yao is slow, Artest is a pothead. Blazers - inexperience, Oden out, not bad end up 7th seed. Mavs - harder schedule, lucky to be in the playoffs, will get swept in 1st round. I think only the position of Nuggets and Hornets can be interchangeable. So, believe it or not, it's Rockets vs Jazz in 1st around again.
