I read somewhere that Snyder made the violence and the sex more graphic in the movie because the way it was in the book was shocking at the time, but doesn't really affect people today the same way. So he was trying to get the same reaction from people today that the book got from people in the 80s.
The posted immature reactions to Manhattan's dangler is why there should be more clean, tasteful nudity in the US in the first place (in normal circumstances, and preferably normal bodies) In the US, it's taboo and therefore quickly a topic to ridicule and joke about. Anywhere else in the world, some on-screen genital nudity would give much less of a response.
I don't see what the big deal is with straight guys getting bothered over seeing male nudity, especially Dr. Manhattan's. I presume most guys have been to gyms and seen other guys naked in the locker room or shower.
like I said, in my case I thought it was tastefully done so it didn't bother me. there was a tad too much of it though. that wasn't even really my main gripe -- it was really just the sex scene.
Haven't seen the movie yet but I think the actress playing Silk Spectre is really hawt so now I'm definately looking forward to it.
I feel bad for all those lil teeny boppers that snuck into the movie and this giant blue cack is the the first they have ever seen, boy are they gonna be dissapointed if they think every cack is that big flaccid. Well...actually...i feel bad for the guy now that i think about it. lolz
ya they show her nipple for a split second but the majority of the time u get more zoom in on nite owls(whatever is his name is) body while he is on her.
I thought the movie was a missed opportunity. The director was so reverential to the source material that the pacing became leaden. And sometimes comic book dialogue ("Mmmm, your fingers, like licking a flashlight battery") doesn't come off as well live, especially when spoken by a bad (albeit yummy) actress. Rorshach, the Comedian, Sally Jupiter, and sometimes Dr Manhattan were highlights. Some scenes were awesome (the opening credits montage, Rorshach in prison ("I'm not locked in here with you! You're locked in here with ME!"). Overall I just think if the director had moved the story along a little better. 2 hrs 45 minutes is great, IF you don't drag your feet about it.
I forget if this was even in the book or if the director plugged it in... but it comes off horrible, palm in fist worthy... Spoiler when Juspeczyk says "your such an *******" before shooting veidt... Geez that was bad.
I don't remember it being full frontal. Anyway, she was also topless in Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle.
thats where she was from i kept on trying to think where i have had seen her before. i saw heart break kid but it was pretty forgettable the only thing i remember from that film was Jerry stiller asking ben how many p***** he has crushed
I saw it this afternoon. I enjoyed it. It's pretty much what I expected it to be. It's a faithful adaptation. It was slow in spots but I thought it would be. They did cram a little more action into it than what the book had. Blue penis didn't bother me. I thought the revised endgame was logical and done well. I think I even like it more than what was in the book. Some of the music was odd, "99 Luftballons" and "All Along the Watchtower" seemed out of place. Not lyrically but musically. And I've heard a few versions of that "Hallelujah" song but this one kind of sucked. I didn't think the Night Owl/Silk Spectre sex scene was abnormally long. Jackie Earle Haley, who played Rorschach, did a fantastic job. Malin Akerman (Silk Spectre II) kind of sucked. I think that people who have read the book and know what they're getting into will like it. People who haven't read the book might be split.
The guy singing that version of Hallelujah wrote it... Give me Leonard Cohen Afterworld so I can die eternally... The way they handled Manhattan coming back to Earth was the best adaption/improvement IMO.
