I bet that Rockets will miss Rafer's offense in playoff. :D

Team's offensive numbers in last 9 games:

    100.7 ppg
    47.7% FG PCT

Also, Lowry and Brooks together are better than Rafer. It's not like Rafer was some all-league point guard who lead us to championship, similar to Chauncy Billups or Tony Parker. Yes, he did have his good qualities, but were they going to help us reach the next level. Rafer was a good passer and here and there a good scorer. But, he was very inconsistent and very much afraid of contact. Those are things we don't need in the playoffs. We need an aggressive point guard who can mix things up and keep the defense on its toes (not letting them relax on the wing, because they know a certain player is going to shoot jumpers).

The "Queens" as you call them accomplished far more than this team has in over 10 years and they re absolutely NOTHING like the Warriors. The warriors often don't even play with a center.

Yao has been getting plenty of touches lately in the post. Yesterday, he couldn't hit a shot. And as for crunch time, the Rockets have NEVER gone to Yao in crunch time, he simply isn't reliable at the end of the game a lot of the time. That isn't a new thing.

All those guys are pretty efficient shooters. As long as they are making their shots, I have absolutely no problem with them shooting. Especially when like last night, Yao was not hitting his shots

Why does losing one of the worst starting pgs in the nba make them no longer contenders? The offense is much better now that he is gone. And this team is MUCH better than they were last season. Have some faith, but judging from your post you really don't even watch the Rockets.

No he can't, but Rafer will NEVER do that. I am fine with Aaron's 40ish% because he hits his 3s and finishes around the rim. I certainly won't miss Rafer missing 7 3s in one game or missing 5 layups and 5 tear drops. The guy may have not turned it over much, but the stupid ass shots he took were as good as turnover. Whenever he shot the ball, it was essentially a turnover. Aaron is a great shooter, he needs to be taking shots, that is why he is now the point guard.

As for you, you're a joke of a poster. I am so ****ing sick of rookie noobs posting about how terrible the Rockets are and that Rafer Alston was the MVP of this team. If you arn't a rookie already, you need to be demoted

I would have to agree with that assessment of your's.

Here's a link to a post of mine in the other thread concerning Otis Smith's thoughts about the trade on how he thinks that it increases their chances of winning a championship. Take note of the quote I have in it from a poster on Magicmadness.net, and just maybe, it will give you some laughs. :D Or if you like, just click on the link to that thread on Magicmadness.net concerning that same exact topic.

Anyone who thinks Rafer had 'offense' is dumb. Both Brooks and Lowry have shown us more offensive flair than Rafer ever has in a Rockets uni. And no, lights out shooting nights that happen once every three weeks does not count as good offense. Consistency is the key.

I pretty much stopped taking you seriously after reading your topic title

I really hope this thread is a joke. I'm sure the Charles Barkley's of the world still take the "Man, yall aint know yer basketball if yall think dey wont wont be missing Rafer Alston in da playoffs" stance even though any intelligent person that's watched this team without Rafer knows we're better. Any intelligent person knows an aging and peaked Rafer was always the weakest link during the Yao/T-Mac years. A move into a new direction is a something we should all embrace.

Key to winning is to do what it takes to get the W. The team is becoming and playing team basketball which is fun to watch. RA will not be missed in the playoffs. You will see a different schemes on both on the offense and defense. RA will have the team playing playoff winning basketball. I believe the Rockets will be the 2nd or 3rd seed.

we'll see. but lets get to playoffs first.
I would agree that Alston was not a pass first guy like it's common belief here.
I watched some Orlando games recently and I had "WTF" thoughts watching him triggering there. He's just thinking too high on his threes..

Rafer gets traded and now all of these people come out of the woodworks acting like he was a world class PG. And now people like this are whining because Brooks has stepped up and replaced Alston when they were screaming gloom and doom.

Do not listening to Charles Barkley's of the world, the rockets do not miss Rafer. The team is winning, and more fun to watch, plus that two young guards can only get better, and Rafer can not get any better as he is getting older. AS for playoff? Too bad, do not recall any impact play from Rafer in the past.

Does the :D at the end mean that this is a joke and merely a bad attempt at sarcasm? If it isn't and you're serious about the Rockets not being contenders just because they traded away Rafer, then you couldn't be more wrong.

    Do you like Rafer's:

    Teardrops?
Jack up 3s during a fast break when the shot clock has just a few clicks?
    Consistent 2-9, 1/8, 3/12 FGs?
Dodging body-contact dribblings into the paint?

If all your answers are positive, you'll miss his offense in playoff.

Despite his medicore offense, he's a real professional player. He gave us his best during his stay in Rox. I admire his poised reaction when he was told he would be traded to the Orlando Magic. I wish him the best of luck there.

    oh, the irony!

rafer's experience running the point might be missed in the playoffs, but his 'offense' will not be.

    (it's you're, btw)
