You're only reemphasizing what I said was true and that I was right.

I know we have Ron's bird rights, but the question is now will Les be willing to go over the cap for Ron.

I don't think he's injury prone but it's your choice to look at it like that.

I mean whoever got to the Rockets got injured...

I hope everyone realizes with Artest he is going to command anywhere between 12-15 million per year.. So don't be low balling like 4 years 40 million. It ain't going to happen because a lot of teams will pay for his skill set.

The Rockets will not resign Artest. They seem like they want to bid in the 2010 sweepstakes.

No, especially since the Rafer trade only saved the Rockets $200.000 (read it somewhere) which is strange because I figured that was what the move was all about.

Anyway, even if we can afford him it's obvious the Rockets organisation does not like him just like they didn't like the outspoken Rafer. They rather have a team without a floor leader, a team where everybody remains quiet and just sits back watching Tracy not playing defense, watching the refs blow call after call and watch the opponents abuse teammates.

I just hope we play the Jazz so Artest can go out screaming NO LAYUPS !!!!
Too bad Artest is trying to put on his best behaviour, when we acquired him this summer I was hoping for the Artest who would throw some elbows here and there and get into it with some players like Maxwell. I know everybody probably thinks I'm stupid but I like it when a player gets out of control at times, it sends a message.

But there is no way Ron is staying, I'm just happy we got him for one year.
Say good bye to Artest just like we said goodbye to Rafer. :(

No, I don't see that happening, and honestly I think the Rockets missed the boat on asset management with Ron.

He was an $8+ million expiring contract, and now he is only a sign, or a sign and trade guy.

As an expiring he had value to teams looking to get cap relief, but now, as a sign and trade you actually need to have someone desiring Ron on their team.

While there may be a few teams, I doubt he is that valuable a commodity, and probably not more than a MLE type of deal.

i think if our team play good enough, and let yao&artest&t-mac can see the hope of champion,if like this ,maybe artest will give up some requests of his salary...

now ,rafer left our team(i miss skip),but we still need to go forward... luckily ,brooks... ... t-mac said that he needed to do operation, who knows that is a truth or a fake.

and i think artest will be in our future plans, cuz t-mac cant do it well ,and we need fighting spirit,
    And our target is champion!!

I don't think other teams are going to offer much for Ron, if we can get him for a reasnable price we should try to keep him.

I'm such the Rockets will bank on Ronald's Ambitions on becoming Yao's new Man (no homo); As long as he doesn't ask for more than 42 mil./4yrs. he will be a Rocket at the peak of his career. Contract over at 34.

I have to bump this just to say that if we don't re-sign Artest, I might cry.

I really want a Ron jersey, but I'm afraid that he's gonna bolt after this season.

When we signed him I was so happy, man... ecstatic even. My girlfriend (whom from dating me is becoming a basketball/Rockets fan) was just reminiscing about how happy I was the day I found out we got him.

He was my favorite non-Rocket, and the day he signed I was going crazy. I love that his reputation is built on defense, but he can also take over games on offense. I love his physical hard-nosed style of play, and he is a great guy (for those that know him, not what the media says about him).

I really really hope he's in our future plans and sadly, the better he plays, the more we're going to have to pay to keep him. I just wish we had some news on what his future plans are.

Ron I hope your reading this,

I felt the same exact way the day we signed him. Prior to it happening I said to myself in the early part of the summer, what if we picked him up. He would seriously be the best addition the team could make, the perfect fit in essence. I was bored one day driving home from campus, and I decided to put it on sports radio for the first time in over five years?

They announced that the Houston Rockets picked up Ron Artest and I couldn't believe it, thinking it was a joke or a dream. I literally lost my head screaming, banging my fists on the side panels of the car and steering wheel to the point I almost lost control of the car. I was so ecstatic about it and it literally made my week.

I love what Ron brings to the court, the toughness and tenacity that we have been lacking for years. I always saw past the whole brawl and it was really a misrepresentation of his character. Prior to us signing him, I viewed him as a man that was pitted in a bad situation in which it would be difficult to argue that anybody else would have done otherwise. He is just a misunderstood man, but he really has a big heart.

I would literally kill to meet the man someday, and I am dying to see him re-sign long term with the rockets so I can go ahead, follow suit, and pick up my Artest Jersey.

    Much love for Ron

I am glad that Ron's at least getting some love on this board. I think Morey would be making a mistake if he doesn't CONSIDER resigning Ron in the summer.

I don't think anyone is going to offer him a deal that the Rockets won't match. I'll be surprised if someone offers him more than 3 years at about 7 million per season. At that price I would keep him for sure.

The Rockets will probably attempt to resign him given the fact that they don't have the ability to go after other star players. But his market value will ultimately determine whether he will be resigned.

If you sign him for a long term contract, you'll have to trade him for a bag of chips after a couple of years, maybe sooner. Ask the Kings. But I am pretty sure Morey isn't that dumb.

A reasonable price with a 3 yr contract sounds good to me. Unless some team wants to overpay him,I think it might work out.

I don't agree with this at all. I think artest has matured, and quite frankly is focused on winning the rest of his career. He can win here and he knows it. If the team wants him back, he will be back.

Personally, he's my favorite rocket and I want him back.

If he performs, usually Mr. Les knows how to pay his good players.
