im as much of a rockets fan that you are.... but i think you should get your stats correct before you say stuff that makes rockets fans look like idiots... answer this question...Whats the rockets record against new orleans, since chris paul came into the nba? because we never owned them through a season... they have playoff experience, what do we have? I wont even comment on what you said with Aaron brooks and scola against Chris Paul and david west... U may need to rethink that..
Mmmmmm.. These Rockets aren't the same team since Paul has been in the league. Real playoff experience right? 1 more round than us? WOW! I am not saying Scola is a better player than West, but I'm saying he'll put up better numbers on West than West will on him IMO... What did I exactly say about Paul and Brooks? I based that on the last time Aaron Brooks started for the Rox and held Paul to lower stats... and did a good job on the offensive end. I don't think Paul is quick enough to stay with Brooks, but then again, Brooks has been up and down since the trade of Alston.. I'm not saying Brooks is better or will play better than Paul, but I'm saying we should have an advantage against Paul since Brooks is quicker..
Scola vs West: http://www.basketball-reference.com/fc/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=westda01&p2=scolalu01 Approximate H2H results between NO and HOU since Paul came into the league: http://www.basketball-reference.com/fc/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=paulch01&p2=alstora01 West handily wins the numbers battle against Scola. The Hornets have won roughly 2 out of every 3 games against us since Paul came into the league. Certainly, in games that he's played in.
Well.. G.. of course he's going to be better when Scola was in his ROOKIE year... I'm talking about this year and these last few weeks where Scola has been hot and is playing consistently.. I'm not worried about West getting hot, we have 2 great perimeter defenders in the PF department in Landry and Hayes to slow him down if we have to.. not to mention Yao to help if he brings it in (I never really said we are going to stop him), but he can't guard THIS Scola either. Yeah like I stated above, this years team, today's team, is different from those other Rockets teams that lost to Paul..
You of all ppl know how quick Brooks is. Those comparisons are really against Rafer who IMO basically had a personal vendetta against Paul. Look at Paul play.. if you take away his space, he has to become more aggressive, looking to shoot, drive etc.. That's in favor of us. Brooks has the speed to stay with Paul, other teams don't really have that luxury.. Paul also has to defend Brooks, he usually doesn't get beat off the dribble, but with Brooks being so quick he can get beat..
So, you're basing it on hypotheticals. Scola has been great but he got owned by Boozer last night. West has been playing good, too, recently. In his last 4 games, West has put up 30/10, 28/12, 32/11 and 30/10. He has about 20 and 10 tonight. In the 2 meetings THIS SEASON, West had better numbers, as usual. I don't think Scola has much chance of stopping West on the defensive end. I'd be happy if he cancelled out West at the other end. I don't see Scola outdueling him though. West is an athletic stud of a scorer. Scola should win the rebounding battle but that's it. If we play the Hornets in 7 straight games, my guess is West outscores Scola in 5 or 6 of those games.
The thing is Chris Paul actually has a brain, Brooks? Not so much. Brooks is a maniac with ADHD, He doesn't know how to start for a team. He's a 6th man player at best.
SOME OF U PEOPLE ON HERE HAVE A EXCUSE FOR EVERYTHING...RIGHT NOW..I WONT TAKE THE ROCKETS SERIOUS UNTIL THEY BEAT A HEALTHY JAZZ TEAM LOL
I just meant a statistical comparison between starting PFs since the guy I was replying to was saying Scola would put up better numbers than West when we play NO. You're right about the defensive assignments. Regardless of who covered who, Boozer outperformed Scola last night.
With more shot attempts.. West has no defense... Anyways, I'll lean more towards you on the West and Scola match up, but EVERYTHING goes through Paul with them. You have to agree with what I have said about Paul and Brooks.
Scola has no defense, either. He is roughly a pylon in 1-on-1 situations. His help defense is pretty good and he rebounds well but he gets burned badly in 1-on-1 situations. So does Landry. Hayes is our only good defensive PF at the moment. Not sure what you are referring to about Paul vs Brooks. Paul will likely own Brooks in every possible aspect of the game.
I'm a Rockets fan, first. I liked Brooks when I saw him in his 1st Summer League and was praying we finally had a replacement for Alston. Because of that, I got on his bandwagon a little bit. There is no question Lowry is the superior player right now. Brooks will improve but he lacks PG instincts. Lowry is a far better defender, slasher and playmaker. The only think Brooks likely does better than Lowry is shoot from outside and he's not even doing that consistently right now. I'm not a blind fan. I've been a Rockets fan far longer than the time that Brooks has been here.
You took off the homer glasses Just kidding, but yeah you are a 100% saying Lowry is the superior player. Brooks is better off the bench playing with Von Wafer anyways. Both of them love to run and gun and play on the fast break. Kyle Lowry has the basketball IQ which is why he should start over AB
Oh, I've never seen this kind of post from you before. lol.. In the GARM, I always see you fighting for Brooks. But yeah, you are right about Lowry.
I never had them on. I was tired of Alston and knew we needed a change. I'm just as desperate as the next Rockets fan for a quality PG. Hopefully, Lowry is that guy, at least for now. With Yao, your PG can't be one of the least efficient scorers in the league no matter how well he does everything else or how "true" of a PG he is. Now with Adelman AND Yao, it's even more the case. Alston is a backup quality because of his total inability to score consistently at this level, especially in the Rockets' system.
Alston is not relevant to the conversation. He is no longer a Houston Rocket. Kyle Lowry and AB are the future, I like Lowry now. I don't know about Brooks.
