As I said in another post, other teams need to start punching Yao in the head, elbowing him in the ribs, kicking him in the groin and throwing him to the ground. Since they aren't going to get whistled, why not? The flopping thing is just a temporary thing that's good for one game. Just end the big guy's career and your team is just that much farther ahead.
He is PHYSICALLY soft as compared to black players. Mentally he is tougher than most black guys, that is in terms of mental focus and composure, not just BB IQ. If Shaq gets the same unfair treatment by the refs, he would have a dozen of rap albums by now all cursing them. So if I were Yao, if the ref continues to tream him like that, I'd just play for money - just like ATMac.
him and smoothie sickens me he gets called for being soft and if he plays harder he will probably get a flagrant. but you guys will never be pleased
In fact, Yao is not soft, he 's just too kind. If Akur defend Shaq like that , Shaq will attack him using his arm and let him injured. But Yao never want to do like this. If Yao study to attack those Floopers, they'll know the floops' effect! Yao 's too kind , so he always refuse to hurt others.
That's why other teams should just punch the #!%!@# out of Yao. The league won't defend him and he won't defend himself.
I think he's soft, but he's a good player. Did u see the hard foul shaq gave to Chalmers yesterday? How many times have u seen a guy flop on shaq, and he steps or falls on top of them? Imagine what would happen if yao fell on a flopper. Or if he gave a hard foul. What about a elbow to the head? Letting a guy take ur lunch money is soft.
I agree with you on that, (his upper body isnt that strong, esp his hands)but I also agree with what the OP said. I never know he has to control his strengths and always thought he had not much strengths to push the defender out of the way. Though I did not know he has to control, I never thought he was soft. At the very least he played VERY aggressive this season and I like to see him keep doing that as long as he's a Rockets Man
There's a difference in being soft and being a nice guy, and Yao's the latter. Though I do share your sentiment that Yao needs to be nastier on the court.
I'm going to take it that you just start watching basketball. Do you think yao is tougher mentally than a guy who didn't know where his next meal was coming from in a single parent household and raising his family at the age of 10? Good luck with that one.
Yao is far from soft in last game against Jazz. Actually he got some offensive rebounds in key minutes. So refs can do nothing but foul him out.
it's more of a lack of athleticism that causes him to do these things. just because he falls down and doesn't dunk on people does not equate to being soft. i think kg is soft, all bark no bite, and quentin richardson, anthony peeler, and ron artest have all been quoted that they think he is.
Completely agreed. Yao has to realize that if his style of play is not acknowledged by the refs, he should adapt himself by starting to play like Deke and Karl Malone. It's been 7 years, Big Guy, adapt yourself rather than hoping NBA would adapt to you. Come out of your dream and go back to reality.
Don't forget to add trying to draw charges. Honestly, what the hell center tries to play like a little man? Why does he continue to try to draw charges?
He isn't as soft as he was before, but he needs to get more aggressive and on a consistent basis. He isn't ever going to be fast, powerful,or have great stamina or coordination but he needs to keep on improving. No one will ever bail him out.
