Maybe there's something in the salsa, but craziness in Texas seems to be spreading. Another example: the Rockets' Matt Bullard. Here's a 6-foot-10 three-point shooter with career averages of 5.1 points and 1.9 rebounds who in 10 years won't even be the answer to a trivia question, and he's spouting off about Karl Malone. First Bullard publicly commended Mavericks coach Don Nelson (another salsa eater) for standing up to Malone during a game in Dallas last week. Then, after Malone fired some shots back, Bullard took exception, saying the Jazz forward was wrong to personally attack a fellow player. "You would never see an executive with Texaco attacking an executive with Shell Oil," Bullard reasoned. "You would never see an executive at Compaq Computer attacking an executive with IBM. It shows a very bad example." Excuse me? Did I miss something? Wasn't it a personal attack when Bullard hinted that Malone was a big bully? Besides, Matt, the analogy is weak. For one thing, if Malone is executive level, you're strictly a gas-pump jockey. For another thing, you should start reading the business pages, because it's not that uncommon for an executive of one company to attack another. They just usually do it through their lawyers, which is equally messy and a lot more expensive than two NBA players calling each other names. It is possible that Bullard got suckered into making his original comments about Malone by one of us crafty media types. That's not an excuse, of course. Bullard is college-educated (wink, wink), and should know better. But it's not inconceivable that he thought he was having a casual conversation and didn't expect his sentiments to appear in print.

Thats not a bad thing....Yao so far hasn't matured to being the poised leader a team needs but he still is a 1st option scorer for a team.

Bullard has gone overboard with the flopping talk. It was a few games back (Chicago?) where Wafer got fouled going to the rim as time ran out in a quarter. Bullard goes off on how Wafer just flopped and that flopping should be taken out of the game. As he is saying this you can see in the replay that Wafer was pushed at the hip as he was shooting and that's why he landed on the court sideways. Worrell responds "he was pushed." No response from Matt.
