Now what happens now? New Orlean Hornets stay in East or do they shake up the conference and make Memphis East and New Orleans West? Or here is a good one Make Minnesota East and New Orleans West. Considering how close New Orleans is from Houston and Dallas and San Antonio would that not make it fair to switch the two? New Orleans and Memphis Atlanta is in the East why not Memphis
Hornets will remain in the East...there's really no reason why the NBA should realign when Memphis, New Orleans, and Minneapolis are almost all at the same longitude. Same for the balance of power....why would they move one of the East's best out west and move one of the West's middle (Min) or worst (Mem) teams to the East?
mfclark is exactly right. They are all basically right in the same spot. What I'd like to see happen is the league add a 30th team and then re-align the divisions to 3 five-team divisions in each conference. Then, they could legitimately re-align for rivalries. Ours could be Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, New Orleans and Memphis, which would be a hell of a competitive division.
The East has always had an extra team (they have 15, the west has 14). So maybe it's time the West had the extra one?
I'd love for New Orleans to be in the west. We won't have to hear "Baron led his team to the playoffs, did STeve" anymore.
