1)Magic Johnson 2)Oscar Robertson 3)Bob Cousy 4)STEVE FRANCIS-projected, if he remains a PG 5)Isaiah Thomas If Francis converts to a SG then 1)Michael Jordan 2)Jerry West 3)STEVE FRANCIS-projected 4)Clyde Drexler 5)Allen Iverson-projected I welcome all agreements and disagreements, this wasn't an easy list to make. In some cases it was like splitting hairs. ------------------
1)Scott Brooks 2)Matt Maloney 3)Kenny Smith 4)MOOCHIE NORRIS- projected if he has cornrows. 5)Bryce Drew ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
I like Francis3's list better . I'm shocked he didn't find a way to include Kenyon Martin though . ------------------
Kenyon Martin is going to be the best power forward of all time. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
Top 5 of all time: 1. Oscar Robertson 2.Micheal Jordan 3.Magic Johnson 4. Jerry West 5.Hal Greer honorable mention: Walt Frazier ------------------ "The bigger they are, the worse they smell."
Hey Francis3, you should check out the new SLAM issue. Has a interview with Stevie AND a story on Kenyon. Stevie said in the interview he only wants to play point guard so forget about him converting.
I know we all hate him, but how can you not mention Stockton in an all-time greatest PG thread? If I needed a pure PG, he would be my man. ------------------ I need a new signature. 302
Top five PG: 1. The Dream 2. Duncan (if he signs to Houston) 3. Rudy 4. me 5. Britney Spears. ------------------ Peter Komlosi, alias KP. Student of Information Technology University of Veszprem, Hungary komlosip@szamtech1.szt.vein.hu
Okay Linus, I'll put Stockton as #6 on my list of the five greatest point guards. Stockton NEEDED Malone to reach the level that he is, much like Pippen NEEDED Jordan to become a superstar. ------------------
heypartner, I do platelet donations (one arm), but getting people to just do whole blood is a start. Thanks for the shoutout. Mango ------------------ The Serious Police are watching Donate Blood
My top 5 PGs of all time are: 1. 2. 3. 4. and 5. I know the first two seem like wildcards to you guys, but back in their heyday they were the best and almost impossible to outplay. My third choice seems out of place because many said he never really took the game seriously, but trust me, whe he got motovated there was no stopping him. My last two are players who hated each other's personality to the point that it really fueled them to outdo each other and become two of the greatest of all time. I don't really expect any argument with them making my list. Honorable mention: Magic Robertson Stockton Maloney. ------------------ AstroRocket-the newly self-appointed president of the Pig Miller Fan Club
Stockton may have needed Malone to rack up all those assists, but how many more assists would he have if other players he passed the ball to made all their missed shots? He didn't need Malone to become the all-time leader in steals or to be a good offensive weapon. I know this is debatable, but I think Stockton is among the greatest pure/traditional point guards the game has seen. ------------------ I need a new signature. 302 [This message has been edited by Lynus302 (edited April 14, 2000).]
I never said Stockton wasn't among the greatest point guards. I think he was one of the first half-dozen of all time. What keeps him below the ones above him is the fact that Stockton never was a truly dominant scorer. You could say that with Malone, he didn't have to be, but I don't think he had it in him to score 25 or 30 ppg consistently. That's not to take anything away from his terrific clutch shooting, but he was merely a good-but not great offensive player in his prime. ------------------
best point guards of all time: in no particular order: i mean it: here it goes: magic johnson bob cousy john stockton jason kidd isiah thomas Gary Payton and soon to be my main man STEVIE FRANCIS ------------------
Sorry, I but I gotta disagree Loaf. Oscar Robertson has to be on the five greatest point guard list. In fact he was probably one of the 5 or 10 greatest players of all time. He AVERAGED a triple double one season!!! ------------------
you're right BIG O is a great player, but i'm sorry to say he's not really a point guard. at least i don't think he was. i always thought he was a shooting guard and therefore left him off the list. other than that, big up to oscar ------------------
How about Maravich, or even Tiny Archibald. Do any of you stat people have numbers on Archibald? ------------------ You can't stop F&Brule, you can only hope to contain him.
