I can't get over this Rockets hating on this board. Clutchfans believe in your team. We are ranked 3rd in the conference, we are playing well. Believe it! This is not a scrub team, we are beating good teams and do have a chance. Clutch City Returns this year!
I really don't understand the fear of the Lakers. I see the Lakers as the Cavs of the West with LESSER DEFENSE. I think we match up REALLY WELL with the Lakers since we have Artest and Battier. The recent Cavs game was a blueprint on how to beat the Lakers. Also, the Lakers bigs are more traditional than the Cavs so there's no issue about Yao having to guard the perimeter. Gasol doesn't bother me too much with both Landry and Scola doing there thing. The only issue that I may have is Odom. He'd be a hard match-up. But hopefully you can see that the Lakers shouldn't be feared. I'm more fearful of the Jazz than any other playoff-bound team due to the match-up problems that they pose for the Rox - Strong PG and very mobile BIGS.
I wouldn't say we have zero chance, but on the other hand JVG saying we have zero chance isn't exactly an anti-Rocket hate statement. Fans want to believe we have a chance, but I seriously doubt many of us would be willing to bet the house on that chance becoming a reality. Considering the teams lack of play off success over the past decade, saying we have no chance of winning the title this year is probably a pretty wide spread opinion held by most NBA observers nation wide. Of course they could be wrong and it wouldn't be the first time. It doesn't make you less of a fan to look at a team's chances objectively though, nor does it mean you don't want them to do better than you think they will. If a room full of Rocket's fans was asked: Will the rocket's win the NBA title this year, yes or no?, and they would get a million dollars for guessing correctly, I would guess the vast majority would bet no even if they want yes to happen with all their heart.
Chances are certainly less than 50/50, but better than the lottery -- check those odds sometimes. While theoretically rather large, they in no way compare to lottery odds. No sense in arguing the point. Time will tell. It depends on how much the 2 point guards "grow/progress". That, as much as anything, is why the chances are not very good on a championship. But who knows? Maybe they'll be the equivalent of the GSW's(8th seed) that beat the Mavs(1st seed). And, of course, staying healthy is a huge factor. In any case, I'm rooting for them. As Clutch said in the knee-jerk thread, at least they are more enjoyable to watch now.
