Source close to me notified me today who lives in the great state of Minnesota has said Wolves are discussing trade options for KG
For those who have not lived on the planet long enough it is the guy who everyone says is Untradeable KEVIN GARNETT

Frankly I do not see what we could offer them for him.
Seems Wolves are exploring their options,If Rockets were to make a trade for this guy would you offer Minnesota your 2003 and 2004 and 2005 first round draft pick and package up MO Taylor and Eddie Griffin for him?

This is because Wolves fans and owner is growing tired of 1st round exits. I guess you pay a player 125 million and expect them to win it all........Imagine the pain KG must feel cashing his paycheck lol

Not nearly enough salary is leaving the Houston payroll to make the trade work. This trade concept was explored here:
    <A HREF=http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32700">Trading for Kevin Garnett</A>

Bad trade to give up that many picks.

ps There is still a trade obligation to be filled with the Griz within the next year and the league won't let a team trade that many consecutive 1st round picks.

    Very bad trade idea.

    how about Griffin + #5 + Cato + Taylor + Rice = Garnett + Jackson

    Rockets
    F: Garnett
    F: Thomas
    G: Francis
    G: Mobley
    C: Jackson

    Twolves
    F: Smith
    F: Griffin
    G: Szczerbiak
    #5

The T Wolves must be sick of first round exits..they should trade KG and not make the play offs at all. That would be better

Seriously though, they need to do something. My guess is Wally is gone. Retrospectively, they should have traded him the week after he became an all star.Yot get the feeling his value will never be that high again...

Hmm I think the Blazers would have the best possible chance of acquiring Garnett if they really were interested since they have so many big name players with big contracts to match Garnetts 125MILL. I Could see Wallace and stoudamire and extras going.

The reason they would be attempting to move KG is because they are treading water. Wally is not the one that has the team handcuffed. Sure KG is their best player, along with one of the best in the league, but it is his contract that is preventing the team from improving. Sure, if they trade him they won't make the playoffs. But they should get a lot of trade ppicks and guys with potential that they can rebuild. They can't get back all of the draft picks that they are missing out on from the Joe Smith deal from Wally.

The Twolves, because of the huge contract they gave to Garnett, were going to depend on the draft more than any other team because they are automatically out of any signifcant free-agent signings. Since they lost five first round picks, I think it has finally become evident that the team will go nowhere unless they trade Garnett.

Your source must be inside the Wolves organization. I, too, live in Minnesota. There have been no rumors of the Wolves trading Garnett in the media. Only the endless speculation of 'SHOULD the Wolves blow up the team and trade Garnett'. In addition, you cannot trade first round picks in consecutive years (also known as the Ted Stepien rule).

Everyone is saying Garnett's salary is handicapping the Wolves from acquiring players. Please explain why they picked up Joe Smith, a former number 1 flop.

However, as stated in my prior thread, I would trade #5, MoTaylor, Cato, and Rice straight up for Garnett. Rice's contract is up in another 1 or 2 years and this provides Minnesota with a lottery selection in 2002.

The salary must be within 15% of garnett's $21 mil with Rice, Cato, and MoTaylor making $21 mil plus the #5. We would throw in anyone else besides, Eddie, Steve, Cat, and Kenny. Yes, the bank robbing Mooch goes.

Sorry, once we max out Steve Franchise, we won't have the cash flow for another similar contract.

    Next...

KG, if traded (big, big IF), would prob'ly go to a team with grotesque salary problems. Obviously the Knicks would jump if they could. They'd have to include Sprewell, whichever player they drafted this year, and a whole lot of change.

Even if KG could be traded, why do it? He legitimizes the franchise. Minneapolis is a nice place (if you don't mind freezing to death), but you don't get many free agents begging to go there.

If the unthinkable happens and KG's traded, I'd say look to Milwaukee or Toronto. But Wally will be the one to go.

i've mentioned this before, but the only conceivable package for KG that i can see working would involve:

    Steve Francis (resigned, that is)
    Kenny Thomas
    #5 pick in this draft
future #1 pick (at least 1, maybe 2).

the rocks could draft a serviceable point guard with the #15 pick in this year's draft, give memphis our pick next year (garnett's a lock to get you in the playoffs), and roll with this lineup:

    PG: #15 pick
    SG: cuttino mobley
    SF/PF: KG
    PF/SF: griff
    C: cato

    that's a damn good team.

the wolves could start rebuilding with

    steve francis
    wally world
    kenny thomas
    #5 pick

    as their nucleus.

you still need to include Rice, Taylor and Cato just for cap purposes.

I posted something similar in another thread but it may apply here too.

It is funny how when Webber's name is brought up, everyone jumps on the "i dont want him because he pusses out in the playoffs" bandwagon. Well, could someone tell me how Webber pusses out but KG is the end all be all answer for our team?

The Clippers could do it, and have talent left over. MAX Brand and resign Odom and ship them to Minn plus 2 lotto picks.

    Kandi
    KG
    Maggette
    Q
    McInnis

    with

    Dooling
    Miles
    Piatkowski

Sterling would wet his pants if he saw KG's contract. Besides, you're essentially giving up 4 lotto guys for KG; one of them, Brand is a 20/10 guy.

Well guess who is gonna be in the draft. DUNLEAVY and I bet he is drafted in the top 5.

Look for a blockbuster deal during the draft.
