Okay, I was hoping there was someone on this BBS that knew the answer to these questions regarding Spider-Man (the comic book series, not the movie). 1) How many Hobgoblins were there? I think it was 3, but I'm not for sure 2) What was the Hobgoblin's main superpower? Wasn't he just like the Green Goblin but had a different costume? 3) Was Max Leeds or Flash Thompson or both ever the Hobgoblin? Who all were the Hobgoblin? How did they become the Hobgoblin? It seems like Flash was brainwashed or framed into thinking he was the Hobgoblin when he really wasn't. Thanks for any info you can give me on this very *important* topic!
Sadly, they are not. His trivia questions were damn hard and it was even damn harder to beat people, ahem dylan, with the search engines (I still say I got that one right about Odin!). This is to satisfy Manny and give him peace of mind!
1) There were a lot... Roderick Kingsley was the real one though. 2) At first, the Hobgoblin just happened to be this crook who found one of the Green Goblins old lairs (Norman Osborn was a crime boss in the comics) and altered the uniform slightly to resemble the Hobgoblin. The Green Goblin however possessed super strength (as a result of that drug he developed) and later on the Hobgoblin discovered the formula for that drug and gained superhuman strength as well (minus the insanity). The Hobgoblin can shoot blasts from his fingers and um, throw pumpkin bombs, smoke ghosts and other various weapons. 3) They were (technically it's ned leeds). They both were brainwashed into doing crimes and stuff. Leeds died and Thompson was cleared of his charges. For like 10 years or so, marvel had said that Leeds was the real Hobgoblin but in the "Hobgoblin: Lives" series, they revealed Kingsley was the one behind it all and with the help of Betty Brant, Spidey took him down.
Isn't it funny how in the cartoon they had the Hobgoblin come out first with Mark Hamill doing the voice(he's good at voicing bad guys, the Joker from the Batman cartoon is the best)? He was like employed by Osburne to take out the Kingpin. It wasn't till and accident makes Norman crazy that he uses the technology he created for the hobgobline to make himself the Green Goblin. That was my main problem with that cartoon, GB is Spidey's greatest enemy and he was barely on the show.
Get the Spiderman DVD they have now on sale it has a giant picture of his face on the front and even shows the veryfirst spiderman cartoon and theme song. Pretty good
I believe Kingsley kills like all of the older hobgoblins which include Macendale. I'm not 100% sure tho.
If the Spiderman movie folk stick to the comic storyline, they have real franchise on their hands. Wait 'til the Spiderman movie with Venom in it comes out! I can already imagine the special effects in that one!
