Preferably one that sucks, LOLOLOLOLOL. No but really, the family requires a new vacuum cleaner (particularly for our shedding dog lately). Ideally, one that doesn't break the bank but that can suck up the dog hair and just everything period, better than our current ones do. Both of ours currently are lightweights when it comes to pulling up the dog hair from the carpet and we have to go over the carpet spots 80 times and there's still hair there sometimes. Sucking jokes are acceptable, but also vacuum cleaner suggestions are welcome
Bissell (sp?) has a line of pet vacuums for $200 or so. Check out target.com. A friend has a Dyson animal vacuum but those are expensive. $500 plus.
I have an Oreck, expensive but once you have one, you will never own another brand. http://www.oreck.com/?keycode=DP380
The Dyson Animal line are awesome. They're pretty steep (get a 20% Bed Bath & Beyond coupon which never expire), but they have a lifetime warranty and will be the last vacuum cleaner you'll ever buy. We've got 2 dogs (a chocolate lab and a chow mix who sheds a ton of fur), and I'm always stunned how much hair our Dyson vacuums up in a single pass.
I have a Hoover Windtunnel bagless upright. It was one of the top rated by Consumer Reports when I got it. Was about $150 at Walmart. Does your dog get on the furniture too? It picks up hair from the carpet really well but I wish the attachments were stronger when I try to clean the couch.
Also want to add if you want to reduce the shedding look into getting one of these and you won't be sorry (they're cheapest on Amazon.) http://www.furminator.com
Anybody owns or has come across Riccar vacuum cleaners? I was shopping around one time and came across that line, expensive but gets alot of good reviews.
I bought a fancy bagless one and my friend has a really expensive one but the best are just the old school super powerful bagged types. Huge capacity and just take it outside to empty it. My bagless one needs to be emptied and the filters cleaned all the time it seems.
yikes. those dyson animals are pretty expensive, lol. i'll have to see how far mom's willing to go but if it'll last a while, then hell we might do it.
It's definitely worth the money when you consider the lifetime warranty. We've had ours about 4 years, and it's been solid with absolutely no problems so far. If you're not on the Bed Bath and Beyond mailing list, get on it. They send 20% off coupons every month, and while they have expiration dates, Bed Bath and Beyond always accept them no matter the date. When you start talking about a $600 vacuum, 20% really comes in handy.
I've got a Bissell that sucks like crazy. Haven't had any problems with it for about 4-5 years. Part of it disconnects so I can carry that part and vaccum the stairs. I thought about getting a Dyson, but those things are too dang expensive for a vacuum. Heck, I thouight the Bissell I bought for around $150 was nutty expensive. lol.
Dyson vs Oreck, that is the question. I am also looking for a good vacuum clearer. Having literally read every post on this site, I still can't decide.
