On my way to a baseball game today, I was listening to 93.3fm (as I often do). On my way back from the game, I turned on 93.3fm (as I often do), only to find Spanish music has replaced hip-hop/R&B. Hours later, that's still the case. I went to the website, and it's still hip-hop/r&b themed, no mention was made of a format change, although when I click the "listen live" link, it plays Spanish music. Does anyone know what the deal is? Is this just a weekend thing or permanent? If it's permanent, is there going to be another hip-hop/r&b station to replace 93.3? I know there's still 97.9, but i figure the more options the better. thanks for any info!

^LOL. That will be a staple joke around "the big H" for years to come... friggin' losers at the City Council... ha... nice one, sir. That's right! We're taking over your jobs AND your radio stations.
This reminds me of how pissed off I was when I got into the car and 101.1 FM was playing Latino music. Worst day ever.
If it's owned by CBS Radio then it's no surprise. They did the same thing here in Dallas a couple weeks ago. Replacing Movin 107.5, a decent channel that played a nice mix with another Spanish Radio Station that plays the same music as TWO other spanish stations already.
I could have sworn 'Party 93.3' (the R&B/Rap format) was actually at another station maybe just a year or two ago. Then, one day that station went Latin and the rap station moved...to 93.3. Maybe they just moved back to the old channel? (Whatever that was?)
Yea, 104.9. Check that channel. I dont live in houston but that i hope that is the problem. I had good signal with 104.9 but 93.3 is full of static as you move towards sugarland from i-10. No way they disappear though.
Dang. I've been an out-of-towner for a while. But when you go back to visit you want SOME familiar sights & sounds still there. Another era closes. If its a CBS or Clear Channel station, thats probably why it got switched like KLOL. Same stuff is happening all over. A very good indie rock station here that hardly played any mainstream music just got changed to spanish. I'm pretty sure party 100.7 then 104.9 then 93.3 is own by Univision though Not to be a doomsayer but the less people rely on radio and instead listen to podcasts & streams, the more it'll whittle down to just the biggest stations in each market offering the music. There's one main rock station, one main hip hop & R&B station, and a whole bunch of generic pop, soft rock & spanish stations in LA.
While I have spent my entire life in Houston I believe we have pretty crappy radio stations. I mean if you want 'rock music' other the 93.7 which plays the older stuff, you have 94.5 ...which isn't a great station at all. Outside of the 90's rock/grunge scene they play most everything else on there is crap and on loop 10x a day. I mean their isnt one station that plays metal / indy / punk or anything at all not 100% mainstream. Is this common in every city? As much as i'm sure the people of Houston love hearing Nickelback and Linkin park everyday isn't their a market for some dam diversity? Thank God for cd's and mp3 players.
i just read the station let go all of its employees due to a major drop in its ratings since the move from Party 104.9. Now its Que Buena 93.3 again.
