I wonder if Gooden is the mystery guy the Cavs were rumored to be after. Not really surprising, it was mentioned when the deal was done that Gooden may be waived. No reason to keep him.

I think players have to be waived on or before March 1st if they were on an NBA roster, or else they are not eligible for the playoffs.

I guess since it is March 1st he is eligible.

Fine w/ me. If they can't use him in the post season, let them have him.

So THAT'S where David Stern's borrowed 200 million is going...

To pay off these teams to waive players that can help the Lakers Spurs Cavs and Celts  .

If Gooden or Joe Smith are indeed eligible for playoff rosters and come relatively cheap I IMPLORE Rocket's management to get rid of Dorsey and sign one of these guys.

Dorsey has a guaranteed contract for next season. His contract could also be useful in the off-season to make salaries work if they deal and from the sounds of things they are.

Right but he "only" makes something like 7-800K per year. Definitely not some sort of franchise killer to swallow that loss but then again with the economic climate the way it is I can't fault them if they do decide not to go down that route.

As much criticism as Drew Gooden has gotten over the years, if he were to come on the Rockets I'd say a sad goodbye to Deke or Dorsey. The sad thing with Dorsey is he's only 2 years younger than Gooden. Or just forget the whole James White thing and get a quarter-year rental with the open roster spot.
