Say what you want about girls basketball, Brittney Griner is worth the price of admission. She dominated last night before fouling out early in the 3rd. 27 points and 8 blocked shots and that was against one of the best post players in the nation, Kelsey Bone of Dulles.

Griner and Nimitz play Bellaire today at 2pm at the Campbell Center in Aldine. It may be the last chance to see her play locally before heading to the state finals (if they win) and then to Baylor.

I was there last night to watch Bellaire play in the 2nd game of the night. She was walking around during our game and had a following of young girls giggling and asking for her autograph.

Bellaire plays Nimitz today at 2:00 for the Region 3 finals at the Aldine Campbell center.

She is going to be rediculous at Baylor with a bunch of other quality players around her. I've never seen such a fluid female post player.

I was at the game last night. She's half woman half amazing. She will make Baylor a top 5 team next year I do believe.

    Wow. Good for her!

Too bad the WNBA might not exist by the time she gets out of college.

Are any of you going to today's game? I can't decide if I want to drive 1/2 way to Dallas again or not.

If I go, I will be one of the small crowd on the Bellaire side. :(

Hmm...I'd rather be at the Houston College Classic or at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Sadly, the women's game at Campbell Center and the Strake Jesuit/Madison game at TSU will easily out draw the Rice/UH game at Tudor.

Those highlights are all I need to see. She will dominate women's college basketball.

Not to derail this thread with a rant about the Chronicle, BUT

This headline See best shots from Friday's games appears over these pictures . For the girls, this is the semifinals, and remember this is high school. I think it is a load of crap to single out one semifinal game and totally ignore the other one.

And if that wasn't bad enough, here is the only article about the girls basketball game. Generous of the chronicle to give the Bellaire/Hightower game 6 lines at the end.

Nimitz prevails in battle of stars

She is a great girls player very coordinated for her height.

Which college is she going to attend?

impressive, but too bad no one gives a crap about women playing basketball. she better put more time in class than on the basketball court if she wants to have a career beyond 30 years old
