    An astute question, indeed.

I don't think KC would pass on Stafford if he's somehow still on the board. They need defense but they also need a QB really bad. Also, when has Curry played in a 3-4 set? I know Wake Forest played a 4-3 and I thought the Senior Bowl played the same set.

KC has a ton of holes, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Trading Jared Allen was a big mistake on their part, and it showed when they gave up the 2nd most yards last season. If Stafford/Curry are off the board, I see them going with the next best defensive player, that's Orakpo IMO.

But if you don't see Stafford, Curry, or Orakpo going to KC at #3, who do you think they'd pick?

I see KC going for either Curry, Monroe, or Stafford if available. 95% college teams don't run 3-4, thats why it's hard to gauge DEs and OLBs to the 3-4. Curry can do any position b/c he's just that good. He's best suited for the 4-3 SAM LB since he can stop the run/rush the passer/cover the TE and FB. I think Jason Smith is probably going #1 to Detroit and I wouldn't mind seeing Stafford at #3. But, I wouldn't be surprised they get Monroe to pair with last year's pick in Brandon Albert to form a great O-line. You guys remember earlier this decade with Willie Roaf, Will Shields, Casey Wiegmann, and Brian Waters. That O-line paved the way for Priest Holmes for many yard and TDs and Green to pass for some 4K yards years. Finally, I think Thigpen has some talent and the new regime should at least give him at chance to start again.

I always trust local opinion more than national opinion. No matter the sport, the national media has to keep up with 30+ teams. Even though they act like know it all's, there's no way they're going to know as much about the Rockets/Astros/Texans as the well versed fan or local media.

Still, some in the national media are more informed than others. It's painfully obvious that Charles Davis has no clue about the state of the Texans if he thinks we're going to spend our first round pick on a player we intend to be a backup. As if we don't have a need for starters at other positions. Somebody like that, who doesn't have a grasp of the needs of ALL teams, shouldn't be making mock drafts.

Perhaps I wrote that incorrectly, nonetheless.....

    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/story/11399393

Curry produced only 2.5 sacks as a senior, numbers characterized by some as one of the few reasons to be concerned about the All-American. That might be especially true of 3-4 teams.

To quell those concerns, Curry has been working on his speed and explosiveness at API, adding new drills to prep work established while he was at Wake Forest.

"That's the thing about working under coach Lambert," Curry said. "He made sure that I was going to have the versatility to play any linebacker position. I'm prepared to play the middle or the MAC in the 3-4. I've played the WILL and the SAM in the 4-3. I have the versatility and I'm coachable. I'm willing to learn a new defense and a new style of play. I like to be coached."

If Curry is off the board, regardless of Stafford and Orakpo still being there, I wouldn't mind seeing a number of players taken.....BJ Raji, Ray Malugula(sp?), Micheal Johnson, Eugene Monroe, Andre Smith, Everett Brown etc....

The Kansas City Chiefs have never been a team to draft QB's high or draft them well, but I could see Pioli/Haley going after a QB and trying to hit a homerun in their first draft, just not on Stafford, he already has alot of question marks. The Chiefs have Thigpen who developed nicely under Chan Gailey and Gailey survived the Herm cleansing. The Chiefs still have Quinn Grey and Brodie Croyle, while none of those names will blow you away, it's not a BAD trio. IDK dude, KC has so many defensive holes now, and switching to a 3-4 .....I can't see Glenn Dorsey playing nose tackle....I'm pretty sure we are looking at a defensive pick.

    per espn...

    Houston Texans

Who will be Matt Schaub's new backup once the Sage Rosenfels trade to Minnesota goes through? How about Chris Simms? The Titans free agent could land a better offer with a better chance to start. But he's college pals with Houston coordinator Kyle Shanahan, which could make for a match.

    LMAO.

Please God let this happen, that will truly drive the remaining UT honks to become Titan fans.

After the FA's who will be starters (Warner, Collins, maybe Garcia)

Simms and Leftwich are probably the best of the bunch.
Leftwich probably resigns in Pittsburgh if he can't find a team
that gives him a shot at starting.

Simms is capable of filling in for Schaub if he gets injured again.
Sure he doesn't handle criticism well but under Shanahan it could be
the perfect place for him. He's got the physical tools.

I'd definitely be happier with Simms than Grossmam
    or Boller.

Actually, the ultimate LMAO would be what might be happening right now.

    http://nashvillecitypaper.com/news.php?viewStory=66431

You know Fisher's not going to turn over the keys of that team to VY. So, if Collins leaves and Simms re-signs, it's probably Simms' team. Sure, they'll call it a "competition" to soothe Vince's fragile ego, but you know it wouldn't honestly be. And you'd be left with the arrogant, looney tunes-wing of UT casual fans crying about how Simms' daddy paid off another coach and took away another job from one of their heroes.

Now that I'd love to see.

Now that Collins has re-signed to be the starting QB for Tennessee for the next two years, I would be very interested in seeing if we could get their backup QB from UT...Simms!!!

As for drafting Sanchez with the first pick...yeah, I don't think that "surprise pick" accurately describes that line of thinking. Maybe they can find us a good replacement for Steve Slaton in the second round.

We just picked up Ramsey so I doubt we go for another veteran backup.

Haven't these mock draft experts realized by now your almost better off taking a QB in the later rounds and giving them a few years to develop rather than throwing them in the fire?

I'd be ticked off if we drafted Sanchez even if he was available rather than filling a need now when we're on the verge of becoming a playoff team. Not to mention i was never that keen on Sanchez. :(
