I do Security Administration for both Peoplesoft FMS and HCM. Any version through 8.9. Don't have any experience with 9.0. Yes, most who specialize in upgrade efforts do not get fulltime spots...they consult and go from project to project. I've done some consulting but in the current state of the economy I wanted a fulltime regular gig.
Excellent. Good for you. I think we both know plenty of companies won't make it to 9 for a very long time, so it's not like you have to worry. EDIT: Oh yeah, shot in the dark... know any really good Blue Martini people looking for full-time?
Not off the top of my head, but I am hooked into lots of groups on Linked In, etc. I will post some stuff and let you know.
Don't go too far. At this point it's more curiosity. We have a bunch of good, but absurdly over-priced Blue Martini consultants right now. There isn't even a green light to look for full-time replacements yet, but I hope there WILL be... these consultants are raping us.
Congrats RMTex! Glad to hear you found something. I've been getting quite a few calls for Web Server/Sharepoint Admin positions, so I know the IT market isn't nearly as dead as many of the other sectors out there. Luckily I've been able to hang onto my job, but it's good to know that good people are still able to find something if they find themselves out of work. How long were you out?
I was out 6 weeks. I was fully prepared to be out much longer. I was denied unemployment since I was considered to be self-employed. I consider myself very lucky to get what I got, and I was wise to put a bunch of money in savings last year. Seems like the best place to find fulltime IT gigs in Houston right now is the Medical Center.
I read this and stopped right there and thought, Wow someone is paying RMT to b**** about Rock band/Guitar Hero, I didn't know those jobs existed. Congrats on the new job.
