Well , potentially they could have added beside Durant : Landry & M.Gasol & R.Session that same year , scary thought .
We shouldn't be throwing rocks at anyone over draft day prowess. Reasons.... 1983 - We took Rodney McCray over Clyde Drexler 1984 - Portland was so desperate for a big man that they called asking to trade the #2 pick + considerations for Ralph Sampson Source: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/nba/news/2001/08/02/sayitaintso_rockets/
I'll be a Debbie Downer and say Dream and Jordan wouldn't have meshed well together. Just my gut feeling as both wanted to be first option players.
If I recall you went to UT MBA, so did you do summer internship in Portland? Just curious what you thought of the town. Oregon is on my list of places I think should be really cool but have yet to visit. But yes, KD was dominant in college. I'm surprised Beasly has not performed a lot better as he was just as (if not more) dominant than KD against more or less the same competition the next year.
The biggest difference right now between Beasley and KD is between the ears. KD is much more mature & focused and the most important thing for him is to be the best NBA player he can be. This is why I pegged him as a potential all-time great even before he played in one NBA game. On the other hand, Beasley is a flake who has some problems and hasn't grown up yet.
I think the length has a lot to do with it as well. KD is like almost 7 ft tall already, while Beasley is what...6'6 without shoes? Because he's so tall, he basically has Tmac's advantages in scoring, while Beasley is stuck at pf in the golden age of pfs (with Duncan, KG, Gasol, Dirk etc).
