Source article in Spanish: http://www.elmundodeportivo.es/web/gen/20090224/noticia_53647139819.html A PG but he's really an undersized SG (Ahem, V-Span). That alone points puts up more signs pointing to bust regardless of the player's country of origin. I'm not sure if I like the idea at all if indeed the Rockets were the team who made the offer. The NBA has projected a luxury tax threshold of $69.4M for 2009-10. That leaves the Rockets around $5.86M under LT with Artest and Wafer yet to be re-signed. I like the idea even less.
I watched Rakocevic many times, pretty good player. Not sure about the rumors, they often aren't reliable. Also how would he fit in the NBA? I mean he's really a European point guard and has that style of play. And the contract is big, I could see another V-Span on the way.
I'd like to believe the scouting guys have a better handle on this guy than I. And BTW - 12mm over 3 years means @3.6/4/4.4. If he's all that I'm ready for that.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JP8tTPaJ80U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOafHzDSHEw It seems he is a very good shooter coming off the picks and he also got mid-range jumper off the dribble. I would say his play style will fit well with Rockets and Yao. He does have a late release on his shots so it may be problem when he does decide to play again in the NBA.
That spanish article NEVER said he had received an offer by Rockets. the last paragraph of the article: En vista de su excelente temporada, los clubes griegos y rusos ya han realizado sus primeras ofertas para hacerse con el jugador pero todos tendrán un durro rival en un equipo de la NBA que, según se ha podido saber, pertenece a la Conferencia Este I know only little spanish, but IMO that means the NBA team which gave him the offer came from Eastern Conference. Am I right?
For what ive read from the spanish articles Houston has not been involved with this guy, luckily because i don´t like him very much, he is quite a chemistry killer. I would propouse to go after Delfino, who demands a 7 millions two year contract and plays all PG, SG and SF positions. (remember the guy from argentina that was on fire against Greece) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6Rujxrh9DE But he is actualy rehabilitating from an injury and i don´t wanna add more injuried players to the rox.
Sina says it's a four year deal, maybe 4th year team option? Anyway, I don't like this idea, he sucked in NBA before.
Maybe you're right, but - you are basing your suckhood on very limited time years back? Is it possible some international scout has seen something less suckhoody?
Scola was the best player in the Euroleague and even he got a 3 mill per year deal. There's no way this thread has any legitimate basis.
The guy's a scoring machine, but plays nothing like a PG. What's the benefit of signing him to a pretty high salary over re-signing Wafer to a more reasonable contract? Wafer's proving himself to be a decent enough scorer on this level and is way more athletic.
How tall is this guy? Could we play him at the 2 in stead? Brandon Roy has above average point guard skills but because of his size the blazers play him at the 2. Maybe we can do the same thing.
