When you can shoot at above 48%, you can chuck as many shots as you want. Durant is not a chucker.

Durant has the size of Dirk and the shooting touches of Ray Allen. This guy is a future HOFer if he has a healthy career.

He is ONLY 20 years old, and only a sophmore in the NBA.

Oden on the other hand is turning 40 more or less, and has been injured for for his whole career (College and two years in the NBA).

Which poses the question. Of the following, which is more likely to happen?

    A) Oden becomes an all-star

    B) Oden becomes the next Michael Olowokandi

Depends on injuries. If Oden stays relatively healthy, I've seen enough that he WILL be an All-Star. The Kandi-man didn't have nearly the ability that Oden has.

I can't venture a guess on his injury future.

I remember that as well. His numbers are pretty ridiculous. Its not like anyone else on his team takes the defensive focus away from him, either. I mean, Westbrook and Green are good players, but everyone knows the scoring is going to come from KD and yet he still has ridiculous numbers, especially as primarily a jump-shooter.

I think Pritchard said it best when he said something along the lines that Durant is a guy that can win many scoring titles and be in the running for MVP type honors but when it comes down to it I think Oden has a better chance of leading his team to a championship(s). This is not a knock on Durant but I agree with that statement because it's easier to build around Oden as opposed to Durant.

However, the OP's question is WAY WAYY WAYYYYY premature. It's kind of r****ded to reverse history because there just isn't enough history yet. It's barely been over 1.5 years. Ask the same question in 5 years.

How old do you think it will take? Can we say he ain't an All-Star quality player, after the end of his rookie contract?

And both times the Rockets coveted the player the Blazers took. They like Drexler a lot. And we all know how the Rockets tried to get Brandon Roy a few years back.

Mark it down, 8 more years to go... Then Roy finally becomes a Rocket.

Durant is a great player, but he's going to have a lot of injuries in his career. He's banging with players 40 pounds heavier than him. Watch him go the way of Tmac. Mark my words.

If Oden gets/stays healthy and isn't an All-Star by his 4th year, I'll be extremely surprised.

that's kinda like asking if you would take shaq over kobe if they both came out at the same time. the dominant big man will almost always be taken first in the end.

I don't know about that. His game isn't predicated on driving. He can drive and does, but he's also primarily a jump-shooter (albeit a super accurate one). He's been an iron man so far (only missing 2 games last year and averaging over 40 min a game this year).

i would've taken durant over oden..durant has more upside and is more of a scoring threat than oden..besides, oden can't play 10 games straight.
