it would have to be our most surprising championship, we've had years where we have been bigger underdogs, but if we won it this year we would be much more of an underdog than the previous championship teams
You are kidding, if the Rockets win it all this season it would be the greatest championship win in the NBA History, not just the rockets one. Right some ppl even think that the rockets can not make the playoff, but they do have a point.
First put down your crack pipe and take off the rose-colored glasses. But if we're going down the road of pure speculation: It would be awesome and unexpected, but I don't know if anything ever tops the 1995 run. It's still my all-time favorite lineup. It had Clyde coming back, Mad Max being banished and Herrera getting injured. We faced the 4 best teams in the league en route to the Ring and were down 2-1 to Utah and 3-1 to Phoenix. Mario's kiss of death, Horry raining 3's, Kenny with a million 3's in Orlando, Sam going crazy, Hakeem destroying MVP Robinson in the WCF, and Rudy stating "Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion." Barkley had to eat his words, Jazz fans cried, Shaq cried, San Antonio was shocked, and Brick Anderson was never the same after those 4 free throws. I don't know if any championship ever tastes as sweet as that one.
I think so. Hell, people don't even think our team can make the playoffs now and if we do we'll just be another one and done playoff team. But they obviously aren't Rocket fans or they wouldve noticed how much better we play without him this season.
If the Rockets make it out of the first round, it will be the greatest Rockets run of the last decade. One thing at a time.
If I were to answer that now, no, not even close. I dont feel anywhere close to this team than I did to the team of the mid 90s. If might be kind of a demoralizing thing to say, but every time the 4th quarter starts, and its a close game, I feel like we're gonna find a way to blow it. Its cause we dont seem to have a closer (TMAC was the closest thing that we've gotten recently), where back in the day we had several, not to mention the Dream himself. Now of course if we win, that means all this has changed, and I might think differently. As it is, I love this team, but not like the team of old.
Nothing will EVER be better than the 1st one You have to understand the moment in time HOUSTON HAD *NEVER* WON A CHAMPIONSHIP IN ANY SPORT [afl things don't count] Everyone was estatic. . . Rocket River . . .was stuck in college station . . .
The team of the mid 90s had the ability to win it all, or at least had passed the first round before, and this team has never win anything before, and suddenly wins it all with the same kind of players. That is totally different case.
