First, do not know if the report is true, if it is true, let talk about Yao. All Yao had done was not happy about any traded the rockets have made. If rockets talk with Yao for the trades before the action, he would like to say NO, then what should you do from the rockets' side. Yao was talking winning champ with Rafer, Tmac? Are you kidding me, be smart, Yao, just plays the ball. Morey made all right moves to win something, you do not have much idea to improve the team.
Yao will never say no. He didn't say no even to SF3 trade when CD consulted him no matter how he likes Steve.
We gotta stop posting some Chinese reporters' articles here, cause some of the articles were really made up purely for money. It would be no harm if they were kept in Chinese Websites. But when the articles are posted here, the mangement might catch them and could cause some negative effects. Seriously, stop doing that.
After a team practice when the trade deadline passed, reporters asked the coach or Morey why Yao didn't know the trade in advance, their answer was it's a last minute decision, so no time to consult with Yao. Quite hard to belive. Anyway at least the trade cast some doult to the Rockets. Did the organization give up the season already? Yao said all the nice things, told poeple the new guy was pretty good, and the team would move on. But I believe deep inside he was very disappointed, especially after Tmac was down, the team was still playing very well. He might think that he has had the capability to lead the team and this team was very tight (maybe not all of them) and very good to compete with anyone. I would believe the players NEVER thought giving up the season. Did the organization trust him and the team to achieve sth. great this season? To Yao and his teammates, the answer might likely be NO. Hope Yao can still lead the team go deep. He has been the face of the organization since he became a rocket, but in fact this is the first season he is also the main guy on court. With this opportunity, also comes the responsibility, he himself will be the deciding factor to tell who he is and who he will be. I want to see him do well. BTW, basketballwise and businesswise, good decision for Yao not to sign extension right away. It is smart to first make sure if the situation is worthy for him to stay, if not, a change is the better choice, which is just the same as Morey did.
Yes, he will not say no, but he would not say Yes either, then case becomes more difficult. Main point here is Yao is doing friendship things when the rockets are doing business, the rockets know that, otherwise, Morey would consult him without any problem, why would you? Furthermore, Rafer is Yao's good friend? how can this happen? When Tmac and Rafer are the court together, all Rafer was doing is to hold the ball to Tmac, and Yao can only see the ball when they can not create something. Yao, and Yao, you need to be man on the court first before getting the respect from the GM.
Everyone needs to earn 'respect', Yao too! If he had Duncan's achivement, I guess he also could say what Ducan is saying now.
Can you name the two players we can get? Who are better than Yao but with half of Yao's future max salary? And how can we get them?
First you don't believe Yao wasn't aware of the trade despite reported by Chron. Now you change your ground and simply blame Yao doesn't deserve it. Anyway, understand it's just a very common act in NBA. You don't have to have 3 rings on your fingers to get that. Again, CD consulted with Yao before Tmac trade. I don't think Yao had any power to veto that (or he had any willingness to veto that) or anything, it just a nice thing to do to show respect to your alpha dog and it does no harm to anybody. What Morey did, either don't know this or did it on purpose, was plain rude.
This was very obvious when the management decided to trade for a younger prospect. In my honest opinion, I believe the only way Yao will earn a Championship with the Rockets is if stays put and wait for our young line up to gain more experience. Brooks, Lowry, Landry, Wafer.
Because he is the first significant Chinese player in the NBA? All good things come to an end you know. If you travel to China or anywhere else with major Sino population, you will realize that Yao Ming's marketing presence is very limited. Most people heard of him due to initial exposure but not really interested. Yao Ming's IMHO is wearing out his welcome. A boring lumbering 20/10 player with zero marketing appeal other than being a tall Chinese will sooner or later be relegated to the rear like any other good but not good enough NBA players. Unless.......he play like he means it, not like a good boy grinding out for the national basketball team and sharing ball with all players like a good comrade.
Chinese basketball websites pay close atention to Clutchfans. and just like here, they are also good at making something out of nothing. for example, the ESPN minor rumor that implied tmac might come back in 2 weeks. it started on ESPN as a tiny flash note(deleted soon), bloomed here on Clutchfans, quoted on Hoopchina immediately, now became a 30+ page hot fighting thread out there. I think this thread and that share identical nature. I also noticed more funny pattern. Chinese media rumor quoted here, making some small thread, then quoted back to China and became big sensational news. source check conveniently ignored during the translations. people even use the Clutchfans quote to consolidate the original rumor. quite hilarious...
Yao's marketing presence in China is very limited? Okay, now you're either very naive or a troll. Yao is undeniably the second biggest sporting star in China after Liu Xiang. In fact, I would venture a bid that after Liu's fiasco this summer, Yao might be closing in on that top spot. Chinese television networks broadcast every single Rockets game in the same way that local networks broadcast local teams (though they also broadcast non-Rockets games). Yao's teammates have had numerous endorsements from Chinese companies, and these same companies have been advertising at the Toyota Center since Yao came into the league. Nothing at all indicates that China's interest in Yao is dwindling. I can assure you that.
well, maybe he is not travelling that much. Guess who is the tall guy playing basketball with a kid betting on a bottle of coke, in a major CCTV commercial for Cocacola?
