There is much conjecture as to where the 76ers franchise is going, and many reports have Allen Iverson gone by next season. The feud between Iverson and Larry Brown has grown too much, and one of those guys won't be in Philly next year. So, if Iverson is legitimately on the trade block, should the Rockets pursue him? Steve Francis would obviously be the key to any trade, but it's just a question as to whether the Rockets are ready to give up on him. If the Rockets could get Iverson for Francis and a draft pick and/or player, do they do it?
If we want another Iverson type player (which we dont) we draft Wagner. Why trade our pick and Franchise over there?
I can't pull the trigger on that one, but I will be pleased if Francis ends up being as good as Iverson is.
Iverson is a great player and can dramatically change a team. The thing is that Iverson takes 25-35 shots a game. The Rockets already have a ballhog in Mobley, they don't need another in Iverson. Don't get me wrong I like Iverson, he is a warrior on the court, but I just don't see him being the player to take a team to the championship by himself. Francis is going to be a great player, he just needs a good supporting cast and a healthy season to prove it.
You better shut your Queso up boy! Iverson is going to Detroit, as originally planned. If not maybe New york! Besides Jared is right, that fool just takes too many shots and he's a hoodlum gansta baby daddy! Fahget about it!
I dont think we should trade for anybody. Cant we please not blow up our team. You trade-seekers do realize a team needs to have some consistency and chemistry to win in this league. Changing starters every year is not the way to go. We need to keep our nucleus of Francis, Mobley, Eddie, Maurice, and KT together for a while.
ROckets03, I agree that the Rockets don't need to trade every year, consistency is good, however sometimes a change is needed and the right trade for this team could be the thing to propel this team into the playoffs. The only other problem is your nucleus, you have three players that all play the same position (Mo Taylor, KT, and Griffin). Trading Taylor would be ideal, however coming off an injury and with a bloated contract no one will take him. Griffin is untouchable at this point, and KT, whom I prefer over Taylor makes close to the minimum and puts up the same numbers, so that means that KT unfortunately is the odd man out. Trading KT could net the Rockets a decent player at a position we need depth at, or give us a future pick that could be valuable later on.
Hey, I wasn't suggesting anything, just throwing that out there. But if Francis contract talks don't go smoothly, and given Rudy's past with big time trades, don't be surprised if this becomes more than a rumor.
At this point, Iverson is much better than Francis. I would make this deal because we'd have to unload Cato or Rice and another guy to make the salaries match.
Well a three way deal isn't out of the question but I seriously doubt that Francis is going anywhere. I'd trade Mobley 5 times over before I'd let Franchise go at this point, mostly because of age. The only way I trade Francis is to get Duncan.
I don't think any Rocket fan would trade Francis for Iverson and Philly fan vice versa because each team loves their star player. But in this situation you can't be biased. Iverson is a proven superstar and seems like a lot of posters here dislike him for some reason and always bag on him for how many shots he takes but the truth is he is a little WARRIOR and he always makes the plays when it matters. Not only has he been MVP but he's proven himself in the playoffs numerous times and single handedly tried to take on the Lakers all by himself last year.
1. Iverson took a team to the Eastern Conf Championship "by himself"...he put that team on his back and got them to the NBA Finals. So far, my man, Steve hasn't been able to put a team on his back to get them out of the regular season. 2. You say, "Iverson can't do it by himself so I wouldn't trade for him." Then you say, "Francis is going to be great but needs a supporting cast" in other words, "Francis can't do it by himself." Iverson is a grittier player than Francis...he's one of the few players in the league who can take a game over by himself. He shoots way too much...and he needs to learn how to get other players involved better. But I think the guy is a winner, and I'd be happy to have him in a Rockets uniform.
Iverson is al loser. look at shots taken per game and points per shot Iverson: 27,8 points per shot: 1,13 Francis: 17,6 points per shot: 1,23 mobley: 18,4 points per shot: 1,18 both Francis and mobley score more points per shot. Francis is a better all round player. He can PAss Rebound score. Iverson can do 3 things: 1 Shoot 2 Complain 3 and Shoot some more
